nice, but not impressive
Hotel was nice but the rooms were very small. difficult to use for business without a desk. location was good within a short distance of the Piazza del Popolo. However, outdoor lounge was nice but music was extremely loud and staff declined to turn it down. Really ruined what could have been a nice experience. Best part of hotel was the rooftop garden which was generally empty and offered great views at night. Nice, but I would not go back.

movie set perfect
The Locarno provided exactly the kind of experience we were looking for in Rome- a little bit old world charm, hip but not too hip, definitely European in the best sense. Rooms are spare and clean. Due to an internet error we booked a room in the already fully booked hotel but they graciously accomodated us. The lovely courtyard and sitting room were a perfect place to end the day with a glass of prosecco. Loved it.

Stunning Facility Outshines Lackluster Service
The Locarno Hotel is truly stunning. Not in a slick, everything is perfect sort of way but in a vintage design elegantly preserved kind of a way. The hotels art nouveau detailing is beautiful, unique and transporting. The rooftop deck as well as the courtyard patio are lovely spots to enjoy a drink. The rooms are lovely, but small, the showers tiny. Our shower did not drain properly and the ensuing overflow onto the shower floor and into the bedroom were not addressed for hours after our immediate call to the front desk. (We tried to preserve the wood floor by going into the maids closet and grabbing towels to sop up the water). We also, unfortunately, forgot a fairly expensive item in the room when we left. After several phone calls and emails, we received a response that they could not find the item. But given the lag and lack of response, it seemed more like no effort was ever made to find it. I would go to this hotel again, however, because it was truly a unique and beautiful place (in a great location right next to the Piazza del Popolo).
