5 Stars all around

The nicest Hotel in all of Europe I stayed in out of my 5 country biz/fam/fun tour with my girlfriend. This place has the view, the GYM!!, the location, the food, everything, wow!!!!!! No joke I am a picky spoiled traveler too, and this is a great great value!!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Do the City Segway tours, and if you are young and want some crazy club scenes go to Dock Beach the party island!

A gorgeous hotel

This beautiful hotel offers a wonderful view of the Danube and the Buda side of the city. It is very well located near many sights. Everyone was helpful and the hotel room was spotless. We would stay there again in a "heartbeat".

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Hop on Hop off bus was a great way to see the city and our prepaid rate was good.

Wonderful, Modern 4* Hotel on the Danube

I was thoroughly surprised at how nice this hotel is. Marriott’s website made it look sort of communist era, and I suppose it is from the rear. When we checked in, we were offered an upgrade for a very small fee in Euros per night. Since we’d gotten a dirt cheap rate from Expedia, we went for it. This got us an "executive" room with a view of the Danube and Castle Hill, plus access to the Executive lounge which came with internet / computer use, cocktail hour, breakfast, soda/water all day, etc etc. Basically we didn’t need to buy anything except lunch. The hotel was an American standard 4* hotel, so modern, comfy and nicely decorated. I guess they just remodeled. Anyway, even if you don’t upgrade, the location is something else -- right on the Danube promenade, close to everything! We used the concierge to book our baths ahead of time and the walking tour, both of which were lovely. Budapest is now my favorite city in Europe and I think this was in large part to having a stress-free and roomy hotel to serve as our base. My only complaint is the size of the bathtubs - they are very narrow. However, in fairness to the Marriott, this is true everywhere - we found the same narrow tubs in Vienna and Prague.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We loved "Absolute Walking Tours," the Szenchenyi baths in City Park, and the House of Terror Museum. Budapest has a wonderful transit system, but unless you are going to the outer limits, you really can walk. Budapest is a VERY kid friendly town, wish I’d brought my son with us. I found people in Budapest the most friendly and diverse in my trip (which also included Vienna and Prague). Check out Hummus Bar for Middle Eastern food and the Great Hall Market for souvenirs and fresh fruit.
