Great Price and Location
We will stay there again. It looks recently renovated and is conveniently located near several shopping centers. Its also not too far from the zoo and sea world. Parking was an additional charge of $15.

Affordable Hotel for San Diego
My colleague and I decided to stay at the San Diego Double Tree Club hotel during a conference we were attending in October. We needed a hotel that was close to the conference center (Town and Country Resort) and also easy to access. The hotel is not too far from the airport ($20-$25 cab fare) and a $5 cab ride to the conference center. We didnt have to wait too long for our cabs to arrive (we actually kept having the same cab driver over the three days we were there). The hotel was actually a 20 mins walk from the conference center and on a nice morning, I took a walk over there. The only issue is for the first 3/4 of the walk, there were no sidewalks and that can be precarious. You also have to walk through motel parking lots and who knows what kind of characters hang out over there. The neighborhood was less than impressive and was not what I was expecting. The hotel is also a $6 cab drive away from the Fashion Valley mall and trolley/train station which then you can take the trolly to downton San Diego (about a half hour training ride). Hotel amenities were nice as far as the room being clean and nice plush pillows and comfortors. The hotel has a convenient store in case you get the munchies and has a panini grill/bar downstairs which isnt bad. The best part of the hotel experience was the warm cookie you get when you check-in. After a long flight from the East Coast, I was starving and that warm cookie hit the spot.
Bring cash for cabs and trolley!
