Excellent, low budget place
Plaza Hotel is the average low budget hotel in central London. Very basic, old building, so-so neighborhood (yeah, this means it can be dangerous at night), tiny room (they all are in London, even in much more expensive places), noisy street. In my experience, this place offers the same kind of comfort as twice more expensive three star hotels and is much better than the local hostels. The place is close to the Hammersmith metro station (right on the line to Heathrow), there is a mall nearby and plenty of cheap restaurants and bars around, room service is adequate, got five channels on TV. Big bonus, English breakfast is included and wireless internet is available free of charge. Overall, if you don’t plan to spend all day in the room, Plaza Hotel is the place to stay for a low budget trip to London.

Not bad at all
This hotel was situated a few blocks from Shepard’s Bush underground station, which was quite convenient. Just a short walk to the underground. Also there is a Tesco supermarket a couple of blocks down the road as well. The room itself was downstairs and small, but OK for 1 adult/2 kids. The refrigerator was nice to have. TV has only very few channels. Bathroom was very small (obviously built on after the fact into the corner of the room). It was a bit strange because the hotel is also a residence and people were cooking food in a kitchen just off the entryway. Staff was always polite and helpful and were available the whole evening (which isn’t the case on a lot of low cost hotels). The breakfast was reasonably good (eggs, toast, beans, juice, coffee, etc). Only negatives were that the shower could have been cleaner and the room furniture wasn’t wonderful (bed a little hard and table/chairs cheap). But for the very low price, it’s a pretty good deal.

A Very Friendly Hotel
The best part of the hotel is the helpful staff (owners). They offered us a glass of water the moment we arrived (33 degrees!) and continued to help us throughout our stay. The rooms are clean, the breakfast good and the location convenient. The internet works--and it was fast. One of the owner’s sons has taken charge of organizing the internet and he helped us get our computer on the network. We plan to come back a stay again.
