Madrids BEST hotel

went for business and stayed 25 days--in every possible way the staff made sure my comfort was their priority-answered my questions many times arranged transport-drew directions on map to show the way--from the room cleaners to the GM all concerned with keeping me happy--I did not know any of them till I went there---this is THE ONLY HOTEL I WILL STAY IN MADRID-and i recomend a stay there to anyone -very convient location as well--special metion must be made of JUAN/JESUS/SAFRA/HECTOR/PACEPACE/JEFE/HAVIER/the nite security/jose/mira in the bar and ceclia in the resturant--they trated me like family-cannot say enough good things about them--EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE--thank u

Nice staff, but a bit antiquated

The hotel staff allowed us to check-in early. Staff was very nice all the time and called a taxi once we needed to go to the airport. The hotel is a bit antiquated but still clean. There is not many good places to eat around there but the metro station is pretty close by as well as tour bus line stops.

Excellent Staff

My airline lost my luggage so I had to bug the front desk staff constantly about airport phone numbers, places to buy new clothes, etc. They were so extremely helpful in every way (not just re the luggage). They always greeted me with a smile and were always able to answer my questions. The hotel is close to a metro stop that gets you into the center of the city very easily. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. Great experience overall. I’d stay here again.

Hotel Versalles, very nice quiet location

Here for New Year’s Eve2009-2010. It was nice to return here to a nice quiet area away from the hub bub of the center. It was an easy walk or subway ride to everything. Subway was literally across the street. Diner like restaurant across the street was good for breakfast, A Fresco salad bar restaurant was a nice change from the tapas we ate during our trip to spain, We went once just to get some extra vegetables less than 9 euros includes everything.

Good, if you plan to spend majority of time in the city

Nothing too bad, nothing too great.Conveniently located to the Madrid subway system so makes a good and relatively cheap place to stay.

Very, very, nice, but not flawless

The location of this hotel worked perfectly for me and my traveling companion. The underground was less then 500 feet away, but Madrid is a very walkable city. I thought the hotel in general was clean and up-dated, however one day we did have a small maintenance issue that was corrected by the end of the day. Most of the staff was able to commumicate in English and conducted themselves very professionally. We never attended the breakfast buffet, but it looked great and the resturant seemed very nice. I was very lucky to book this hotel on-line and that provided me a great savings. Would I stay there again? Absolutely

Experience some of the local food and drink. Engage the locals in conversation and get recommendations for eateries off the beaten path. Don’t forget to look up and be sure to enjoy the beautiful Architecture

Nice Hotel

Helpful Staff. Convenient to Alonzo Martinez Metro station. Not close to Puerto de Sol but easy to reach via metro. Great bakeries and restaurants in area. Easy walk to Chueca restaurants and shopping.

Madrid is an easy city to tour via walking and the Metro. The Metro is clean easy to use, ticket info in English if necessary, and runs constantly. You do need to be careful of pickpockets especially on the Metro so carry wallets/purses in front pockets and backpacks held in front of you. Puerto de Sol is the hub in an area that expands out to the Plaza Santa Anna, Plaza Mayor and the Palace Real. Easy walk to all and great shopping restaurants along the way. Retiro Park is wonderful if the weather is good, beautiful Rose Garden and tree lined walks. The Prado is fabulous. Enjoy!

Great Location/Friendly Staff

Stayed 2 nights. The neighborhood is very safe. The Metro is 1 block from the hotel and very convenient on line 4 or 5. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast delicious. I am going back to Madrid in January for 2 weeks and have already purchased my stay at the Gran Versalles.

Perfect location, very helful staff and very comfortable

While we travelled throughout Spain we found the Hotel Versalles to be the best of any hotel we stayed at. The location is very good, walking distance to all the sights including The Prado. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and freindly unlike some of the experiences we had in other hotels in Spain. The room was good size, clean and quiet. An outstanding value that I would recommend to anyone!

EXCELLENT!

Of the hotels I stayed at in Madrid this was my favorite (and also the most inexpensive). The service was friendly and helpful, the rooms relatively more spacious than other hotels, and the amenities were great. I will definitely stay here again.

Would stay again

This location was decent for the price and it was somewhat close to the main hangout spots. Staff was very helpful and the room was clean. Two things I found uncomfortable was that the air conditioning barely worked and the breakfast buffet cost 12 euros per person. Other than that, I would stay again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Its a close enough walk to the main attractions but if you have other family members that are slow walkers, it might take you a little longer than usual because of some of the streets.

WOW

Great Hotel! Beautiful, state of the art bulidings around property. Very modern with a greek influence. Lobby and outdoor seating were very comfortable. Huge pool with bar (could have used some music), amazing spa. Front desk could have been a little more friendly, I mean we were spending a lot each night, they were not very helpful, but the door men were very nice. I would stay there again in a heart beat.

Service and Location

Location was within easy walking distance to old Madrid. Staff were friendly, attentive and informative about local information when approached. I was initially placed in a room which was close to the exterior ventilation fans and elevator shaft. Immediately upon expressing my concern, I was relocated.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Visit the Chocolateria Cafe just outside the Plaza Mayor for all kinds of drinks with a chocolate theme.

Good location, nice hotel - not 4 stars

We enjoyed our stay here. free wi-fi was a big help. Hotel is very close to the Alonso Martinez metro station which made getting around easy. Walking around Madrid was easy from here. Close enough to Prado and other museums, walked to Puerta Del Sol was a little far but nice walk... Only negitaves - room smelled a little musty, beds a litte hard, and definatly was not 4 star. But nice staff and location made up for it.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t take tour trips to Toledo and Segovia - use metro to get to the bus station. Busses are very comfortable. Tour costs aprox 61E. We took metro and bus for around 10E. Each day had breakfast at small cafe 2 blocks away and saved $. Most resturants and shops close for a "nap" between 4-7. Lots of resturants have a lunch special called "Menu Del Dia" which will give you a choice of 2 course meal, dessert, and drink for 8-12 Euros. It’s a great deal! Then have tapas for dinner around 8.

Very Good Hotel

Very much enjoyed our stay. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is very good. Nice neighborhood away from main tourist area. Very close to metro station making it very easy to get around. Recommend hotel and would stay there again.

Not the best location, but decent hotel

This hotel is not in a very good area, and the hotel condition is just okay. Our room was dirty and the furniture is very old and stained inside the rooms. The room was very small that we stayed in, but the great thing about the room was we were on the top floor and it had a roof deck, so we spent all of our time out there. The staff is very friendly and very helpful but I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you want to be near bars, clubs & restaurants. But there is a metro station very close.

Too Many Stars

This is not a 4 star hotel, unless it was rated based on 20 stars. The rooms are small and the beds are hard and the comforters smell. However, they have good customer service and free Wi-Fi in the rooms and they are close to the old town. Everything is walking distance. Also, do not sign up for the shuttle service from airport to hotel and vice versa. It would have cost me more to call the service to get picked up because of the hold time ($1/minute), so I took the Metro.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Use the Metro. It takes you basically everywhere and it is clean, safe and cheap. One Euro each way and 2 Euros to the airport.

Very comfortable hotel

Although the room is small, I was on a very short leisure trip and it was sufficient. The bath accommodations were very good - nice, hot shower is an important plus to me!

This hotel is an excellent location for seeing Madrid. Breakfast was superb. Hotel very pleasant and everyone very helpful

Great Stay

Hotel Gran Vesalle is a wonderful place to stay during your stay in Madrid. Located in a central location, the metro is right across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was clean and very cozy. I would definitely return.
