Opulent suites at Snake River Lodge
Let me preface by saying that we did not stay in a regular room. We booked and got a 3-bdrm suite and it was a magnificent room. With the 40% off condo sale, it was well worth it for two families (sleeps 8). The room was more like a large apartment (I mean LARGE) with all the bells and whistles. Gourmet kitchen (literally), luxurious master and other bdrms with attached bath (master bath even had heated floors, spa shower, jacuzzi, sep. toilet area with phone) and spacious walk-in closets. Laundry and 1/2 bath in hallway. Living room with separate fireplace seating, 10-seat dining table. Couldnt ask for more - well, perhaps a better couch (was completely worn out). The hotel was busy not too much - we found the chairs by the pool easily (5PM or later), but I can see how that can easily get overcrowded. I agree that there should be pool service for drinks and food for this class of resort. Pool is decent - 1/4 of it being indoors - waterfalls, fountains. Whirlpools indoor and outdoor also with waterfalls (nice massage!) and great sauna. Towels and chilled drinking water plentily available. Didnt try out the restaurants at the hotel but were told they were good. Try Cascades in Teton Lodge - great selection. Hotel situated at edge of Teton Village but village is very small - not far from the slopes at all. Right opp the horse corral (summer activities) and walking distance to everything. Jackson Hole 20 mins away - a must visit. Would definitely stay again and in the suite!
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Summer (since we were there for the summer): horseback riding (at entrance to Teton although there are other vendors) for kids 5+ ($30-50); Whitewater rafting on snake river 6+ ($60); Tram ride up to mountain - all ages ($24); SnowKing Resort alpine slides ($13) 2+ - a must do 1/2 mi slide; Bungee Trampoline 3+ ($12); Rock Climbing Wall 3+ ($12); Chuckwagon Dinner - 3 hr relaxation plus western cowboy music; Air gliding - pricey at $250 if you have the inclination.
