Great hotel, great location
We were so pleased with the Hotel Westminster dOpera. The location was perfect: 1 block to the big lOpera Metro station so we could go anywhere in Paris, less than a mile to the Louvre so it was an easy walk to many of the major sites to visit with lots to see along the way, two blocks from the huge department store Lafayette which is amazing, located right in the middle of a great shopping area, a short walk the other direction landed us in another upscale shopping area, if one is homesick for Starbucks there were 2 within walking distance and Rue de Gombast was only three blocks away and it is lined with small bistros and restaurants mostly frequented by locals. Going the opposite direction took us to the Rue de 4th of September with more restaurants, an internet cafe and a grocery store. The hotel itself was excellent. The room was small but that didnt matter since we were gone so much and most European hotels have small rooms. It was decorated beautifully. There was a flat screen TV which we did not even turn on. The room was very quiet even though our room faced the Rue de Paix. The bathroom was very, very nice--large and roomy with a great bathtub/shower combination. AND the staff at this hotel was wonderful. Every person we had contact with was extremely helpful, friendly and pleasant. They smilingly put up with our attempts to speak French and answered our questions and gave us directions pleasantly, succinctly and accurately. I would stay at this hotel again!
The best tip we got while there was when using the Metro (subway) find out the end points of the line that you will be traveling on and look for those name to know which direction of train to get on. Doing that makes the Paris Metro super easy to get around on and is much more cost effective than taking a cab. And--buy a museum pass. It is worth it if only for the privilege of standing in a shorter line to get in. Plus if you want to see several museums you will save money on entrance fees.

Great location
Slightly small rooms.....but great bathroom and convenient location. Two blocks from the Opera, 10 minute walk from the LOuvre or the Musee DOrsay. Easy Metro access for other areas. Its located in a fairly upscale shopping area, so its a nice, safe neighborhood.

great location and everything works...
I have stayed at the Hotel Westminster several times over the years and always return happily. Despite a few hiccups - it is an old hotel after all - I enjoy the service, the atmosphere and the location. On my last visit, I enjoyed the fitness area and worked out each morning before heading out for great French food. My room was on the top floor with a grand window and lovely light. I look forward to returning soon.
