Dont waste your money or time!
This B & B was horrible. Our room wasnt clean (hair on the shower wall that had been taken out of the drain!) No hot water. No air conditioning. Windows had to be open and the owners sat outside talking until 1:00 a.m. No clean towels or even the bed made during our stay. We had planned to stay 3 nights but could only handle 2! Dont waste your time or money!
Comment from the hotel's management
Posted: 26-Aug-09I am sincerely sorry for the couples bad experience. Unfortunately, they never spoke with any of us about their concerns, or we would have been more than willing to correct any problems. Especially when you are being served by a small business person, talking to the host is much appreciated. Im sorry I missed the hair in the shower. I try very hard to keep things clean and have upgraded to high thread count sheets, nice soaps, etc. There is plenty of hot water, as we have two 50 gallon tanks. Yes, its an old building, but you just have to give it a few minutes to heat up and get there. Their stay was on a Wednesday night, and there is Karaoke at the Hollywood Bar across the street, and we have college students who spend the summer here, working at Mesa Verde NP, and some young adults next door who could have been outside. We owners tend to go to bed, as there is the morning coming all too soon! Yes, this is the oldest building in Dolores, CO, built in 1893, and does not have, or often, need air conditioning. Nights dip to around 50 degrees, and everything cools off very nicely. Our average summer high is less than 90 degrees. We strive to provide people with a nice stay, and to enjoy the history of this building that was the lunch and dinner stop on the RGS Railroad system, and housed interesting guests like Teddy Roosevelt and Zane Grey, to name a few. We hope this information would help you decide on where to stay on your next trip to Colorado.
