Better than four stars

We were impressed with the Albani from the moment we checked in. First we were upgraded to a suite which was great, beautiful sparkling marble bathroom, spacious bedroom, sitting room and bath. Thick warm bathrobes and slippers. We used the slippers the whole trip. The people at the front desk were helpful with restaurant suggestions, reservations, calling a taxi, bus routes anything we needed. Everyone was cheerful and friendly even when there were groups of over forty people on tours, they took a moment to get our room key and say hi. The breakfast staff are fantastic Mario is a doll. The breakfast was a wonderful start to each day, great selection and quality, your own pot of tea and coffee at a linen clothed table with fresh flowers. We also had dinner one night, it was a little more expensive than some dinners, but we both thought it was one of the best in Italy. I’d love to stay there again and would recommend this very special hotel to everyone. Great Job Albani wish I could remember the names of the women on the front desk to thank you personally.

The front desk recommended Osteria All’ Antico Mercato on Via Nazionale. We liked it so much we went there twice, great homemade pasta and pizzas and really nice people. Luigi was wonderful. It’s a short walk from the hotel in case you’re tired after walking for miles all day the way we did. The 414 stairs up the bell tower are much less crowded than the dome and there are floors to stop at to catch your breath, take pictures, find your hotel and sites while you go to the top. So you do it at your own pace and the top is really worth it.

Convenient location - comfortable stay - great value

The location of the hotel near the railway station was a plus. Our room on the top floor had a nice terrace with a view. The room was comfortable, with an extra large bed and sufficient room to move arround. The A/C worked well. The bathroom was large and comfortable. Breakfast was plentifull and delicious. The hotel staff were polite and helfull. Our seven night stay a the hotel was pleasant and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Pack light, especially if traveling by train. It is hard to get on and off the train in a hurry with lots of bulky lugage.

Great value!

Lovely hotel, excellent room and bath. Only possible problem was accomodating some gigantic tour groups in the breakfast room.

In early October the city was not too crowded or over-run with tourists, even though it is obviously a major tourist destination.

Great Hotel!

I travelled all throughout Italy for two weeks and the Albani Florence Hotel was my favorite place to stay. The rooms were a good size, the breakfast was delicious and the service was top notch!

Traveler's tip

The hotel is just a couple blocks from the Florence Train Station - it was really nice to be able to just walk to and from the station.

A Great Hotel. Location and Amenities can’t be beat!!

This was our 2nd time to stay at the Albani. I think that this is the nicest hotel I have stayed in, regardless of cost or location. It is a converted residence of an Italian Prince and it really shows. The reason I like it are as follows: 1. The bathrooms are a beautiful white marble. 2. The bedrooms are wonderfully decorated and comfortable. 3. The hotel is about 1 block from the train station which makes for easy transportation. You can pull your suitcase and be there in 3 minutes. 4. The front desk is always helpful and friendly. 5. This hotel is a great value for the cost.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

This right next to the train station. No need for a taxi, just walk over one block and you’re there.

Romantic getaway

This is my 5th stay in Hotel Albani in Florence - and every time I have been impressed with the rooms, food and lovely staff. They are friendly, professional and efficient. Helpful and service minded. The hotel is colorful and impressive, it is situated just five minutes walk from the dome and Uffici gallery. It has a lovely patio with beutiful furnitures and trees, and lies in a quet street. 2 minutes to walk to the conference center! I have - and still do - recomend this hotel to anyone wisiting lorence looking for a hotel experience out of the ordinary.

Not impressed!

After staying at this hotel, my wife and I were surprised that this hotel is rated 4-star. We are easy to please type people. The highlights: 1) The hotel itself is located in a convenient location. 2) The lobby and common areas are nice and clean. 3) The morning breakfast was good and the breakfast staff very nice. The low lights: 1) The room looked like it was decorated by multiple decorators with their own styles. The wall color was neon mustard/green/yellow. The carpeting was red with a weird design that did not match the rest of the hotel decor and color scheme. The room itself was very dark (even with all the lights on). And the window did not add any value to the room. 2) The hotel staff (besides the breakfast staff) was not too nice or inviting. Overall, as a 4-star hotel, we were not impressed.

Elegant Hotel Near Train Station

We had a triple room -- two double beds and a pull out love seat for an adult and two 17 year old girls. The room was spacious with high ceilings and enough room to hold our large suitcases and still walk around the room. The marble bath with a separate tub and shower was great to have after long days of walking around Florence. There is air conditioning but you can also open the windows which is a rare feature in hotels these days. The staff is wonderful! Everyone speaks perfect English and you feel very at home here. Though the hotel is close by the terminal, just a block away, it is very quiet on a residential street. The Albani is beautifully furnished with lush fabrics, marble, beatiful wood. It reminds me of old Europe with such rich detail and not the cheapness of most chain hotels. What a treat for my two nieces. The hotel is centrally located to all major attractions in Florence. A 10 minute walk to the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, The David, San Lorenzo, etc.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Buy gifts at the San Lorenzo market which is open 7 days a week. You’ll find everything here from cashmere pashminas and silk scarves to religious icons, leathergoods, t-shirts, etc. Look for the signs for San Lorenzo near the Duomo. Also, take a taxi or bus to Fiesole to see Florence from above the city. Breathtaking views!

Great Hotel, best we had in our trip to Italy

This was the best hotel we stayed in on your 5 city trip of Italy. The room was relatively large with lighted pictures on the wall. King bed and marble bath. Great location for us since it was only a couple blocks from the train station and some good restaurants. The buffet breakfast was good and had a good atmosphere. The only down side was the electrical plug in the bathroom would only support an electric razor and not anything that took a lot of power like a curling iron.

Traveler's tip on dining

Suggest not getting the tourist dinners, order just what you want and not the tourist 3 course specials. Recommd eating a ZaZa’s not far from the hotel.

Would definitely return

The room was spacious, nicely furnished and comfortably lighted. Bathroom was relatively large, bright, very clean and well appointed with a marble vanity and a full tub with nice shower. Pleasant breakfast room with full buffet.Staff was friendly ad helpful. The immediate surrounding area was busy and touristy but the hotel was on a quiet street. Being a block away from the train and bus station has both advantages and disadvantages with people on the streets 24-7. However we were within easy walking distance of all parts of the city and there was a great coffee bar at the end of the street. Disadvantage - no wireless internet.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Pick up sandwiches from a market or cafe for lunch. Standing at the bar for coffee or chocolate even at a fancy place like Rivoire will save half the cost.

happy with hotel

we chose the hotel for its proximity to the train station and to the school where my daughter is studying. The staff was very friendly and helped with restaurant reservations all 3 nights. When we locked ourself out of our safe someone was there to open it within 5 minutes. We had a triple room - one king sized bed and a chair that folded out to a chaise - the room was a little cramped but very comfortable. 2 minute walk to San Lorenzo Market and the Mercato (food market - not to be missed. Hotel seems to do a fair amount of business with organized tour groups.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

very close to San Lorenzo church and attached Medici chapels (separate tickets to enter both are worthwhile.) Also don’t miss Santa Maria Novella Farmacia around the corner from the Piazza Santa Maria Novella - it’s a beautiful peaceful location and even if you don’t buy anything you will always remember the aroma when walking in.

Close to Transportation and walking distance to most spots

Nice and close to trains and buses and a short walk to most of the major sites. Great price and ours included breakfast which had some yummy pastries. Room size was pretty good and bathroom was the largest we had on our 10 day trip through the country. Not much of a view out the windows but again i think the price is right for the location.

Albani Hotel Florence

This hotel is very well kept with a very helpful staff. Had a very good dinner in their small restaurant. The location is literally two blocks from the Santa Maria train terminal. No taxi required.

Our favorite hotel!

This hotel was our favorite of the 3 we stayed in in Italy. It was conveniently located right by the train station so we didn’t have to walk far with all our luggage after traveling from Venice. We had originally booked a standard deluxe but they upgraded us to a very nice suite. The room was very clean and the decor was beautiful. It was a nice retreat after a tiring day of sightseeing. The staff was very friendly and the all included breakfast very good. In addition to being close to the train station, it is within walking distance to most of the major attractions in Florence. If we ever return to Florence, we will be staying here again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Buy reserved tickets at the main entrance (door #2 I think) of the Uffizi instead of waiting in the main entrance line. The time you save for 4 extra euros per person is worth it. Also check prices before buying. For breathtaking views of the city, visit Piazzale Michelangelo and/or go to the top of the Duomo dome (warning, you will walk up hundreds of stairs in the Duomo).

Outstanding Hotel in Florence, Easy Access to Train Station and Sights

Family of 5 stayed in two rooms for two nights. Hotel was outstanding in all respects. U.S. size rooms, which were very nice. 5 minute walk from the train station. 10 minute walk to Duomo downtown. Front desk extremely helpful answering questions and booking tours for two museums. Breakfast was excellent, with full range of European and American breakfast items. Best cappuchino we had during 10 night/day trip in Italy. We would defintely stay there again!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Pisa is an easy afternoon side trip. Trains run every half hour or so. Kiosk at train station is easy to use. Pisa train station kiosks appeared to only accept cash, probably good use credit card at the window.

We’ll Go Back

We recently stayed for one night at the Albani Florence Hotel before taking an early morning train the next day to Germany. We were very impressed with our stay and would definitely like to stay there again. Front desk was helpful and friendly; the lobby and room had a great luxurious "feel" and our room had all the comforts you would want...we didn’t want to leave! Stay there if you get the chance. Five minute walk to the station was a plus!

way to NOISY!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on our first trip to Florence. The room and staff were fine and the location is very close to the train station, however it’s also on the main route to the bus terminal which causes noise all night and day. As much as I’d like to recomend this hotel that reason alone prevents me from doing so.
