Jolly Good

London is a construction zone and the approach to the hotel was no exception in spite of the unusually snowy conditions. Inside was an oasis. There was a crowd at check in which was efficiently dealt with. Comfortable seating around a roaring fire provided a welcoming ambiance. I was first put in a small single then moved to a double. This was seamlessly handled after I left packed luggage. Beds are comfortable, rooms well appointed. Americans will find it odd that the hairdryer is not in the bathroom but in the main area in front of a mirror. Anyone who arrives in winter will be gratified by the heated floor in the bathroom! View from the larger room was spectacular. Restaurants, shopping, sights, etc. are a short walk although fine dining is available on site, as is High Tea. My sole quibble was with the wake-up call, which was inconsistent, whether you arranged it automatically or with a real person. Jolly good English hospitality. I’d go back again.

Great location.

Royal Horseguards Hotel was a great place to stay for our vacation in London. The location was perfect and the hotel itself was beautiful. The only issue we had was the bed being a little too firm for our taste. We were there for 6 nights so after a couple of nights we called the front and they had housekeeping bring us up an extra comforter to put down for extra softness. It was ok but after walking about London all day I was passing out every night anyway.

When out in London we saw the musical: Wicked. It was truely magical and we loved every minute of it. We visited the nightlife of TigerTiger. That was very cool with the many different rooms and music tastes. I would really recommend being picked up from the airport by a shuttle service for the transportation ease. The traffic is horrific. I would never drive in town. And the restaurant Angus Steak House was great for steaks of course. Very good and tender.

Great place stay. Rooms were fantastic - very modern with all comforts. Staff very friendly and provided assistance. Very close walk to major sights. Have visited London many times before - this was by far my favorite spot. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Outstanding - Would stay there again

The Royal Horseguards Hotel exceeded my expectations. It was our first trip to London and I selected the Horseguards based on other reviews and the location to major London attractions. Located in Westminster, this Hotel is within easy walking distance of major attractions as well as public transportation systems, (The Tube), can be accessed at Embankment or Charring Cross, short walks from Hotel. The room was very upscale and comfortable. The staff was very helpful in assisting with directions and recommendations for eating and attractions. The facility and setting is very picturesque. You will not be disappointed.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you enjoy a scenic walk, take the time to walk across to the other side of the Thames River, enjoyed local street entertainers located close to the London Eye.

I’d Live Here...

Beautiful hotel, accomodating service! Steps from Embankment Station, the Thames and Waterloo Bridge, easy walk to the Eye and Parliament. First trip to London and this made it all the more memorable!

Traveler's tip on nightlife

The restaurants and bars nearby seem to shut down a bit early (from what I’m used to, anyways). Most closed around 10:30-11pm on a weekend. Not sure if this is a law within the city center, as we went to other areas and that didn’t seem to be the case. But if you want to go out late, it doesn’t seem to work in this area.

FABULOUS!

This is a first rate hotel. Our room was top notch and the service is excellent. And you can’t beat the location. Very close to a tube (subway)stop. Within walking distance to the London Eye (just across the river), Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Parliament. If I have the opportunity to go to London again, I will definitely stay at the Royal Horseguards Hotel.

Great Location

You can’t beat the location of this hotel. It’s easy walking distance to major attractions and only a block from the tube station if walking’s not your thing. The hotel was reasonably priced for what you got. The only semi-complaint would be that it’s a block off the main streets, so walking out the door into a waiting taxi isn’t likely to happen, but the door staff are more than eager to get one for you.

More than expected

We wanted to stay at an older hotel with a sense of history. The Royal Horseguards was perfect. It was classically decorated, but the rooms were modern and very comfortable. The hotel staff were wonderful; so helpful and informative. The location of the hotel was ideal. We walked to Trafalger Square, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Convent Garden and to go to the Tower of London, we just walked two blocks and we were at the Embankment Underground station(which was very easy to travel on.) I would definately stay at the Royal Horseguards on our next London trip.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Walk, walk, walk. Get a good street map, comfortable shoes and enjoy all of the wonderful "free" sights. Exploring was so much fun, and everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel, Great Location

This is an old hotel with character but with up to the minute amenities. Service is impeccable. Breakfast was delightful, but spendy. Great location near 10 Downing St. Trafalgar square, Buckingham palace; and right next to a subway station.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Get a London Pass. The subway is easy to use, and you can get to most of the sights quickly.

Location, style, and cheerful assistance

The location simply can’t be beat, the rooms are thoughtfully appointed, and the staff (with one very minor exception) are extremely pleasant and accommodating.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Ask for a room overlooking the water.

The Royal Treatment at Royal Horseguards

We recently stayed at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, and were very impressed. It is within walking distance of the London Eye, Houses or Parliament, Westminster Abbey and many other major sights. The room was fabulous, my teenage daughter was particularly impressed with the TV in the bath tub! The quality was extraordinary and the service impeccable. We plan to stay here on all our future trips to London.

Perfect location for a tourist.

Great location and great comfort

We loved the Royal Horseguards Hotel. The location, right in the center of London is perfect for exploring the traditional sights (Buckingham, Westminster, the Thames etc) and close enough to the Theater District too. There are numerous good restaurants in the area and we walked everywhere. The room was lovely, quiet, very clean and tricked out with every possible gadget (ipod dock, tv in bath, stereo speakers etc). I would go back again in a heartbeat. The only downside is that if you don’t buy breakfast in your package it’s pricey and if you cab it from Heathrow, expect a big bill. But those two things aside, you will ove this hotel.

well situated

nice facilities staff polite but had to call three times over two days to get a TV remote, at the end the AC broke. The front desk transfered us to another/nicer room, with a remote..

Great Place To Stay

Very convenient location, right across the river from the Eye (which you can see from all over the central city) so it’s easy to find. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. You can walk to a lot of sights and the hop on, hop off busses are close by. One tiny complaint: Duvets are used rather than a top sheet on the bed so it is difficult to not get too hot while sleeping.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Lots of sights to see nearby.

Amazing!

The Royal Horseguards Hotel is just amazing! Amazing décor, beautiful, modern but traditional. Amazing location, close to the main attractions. Amazing staff, pleasant and helpful. My family’s first visit to London will never be forgotten, partly due to our hospitable stay at the Royal Horseguards Hotel.

Great value

We got a good price on the hotel and were very pleased. We prepaid for the breakfasts and were happy with the buffet. Also the hotel upgraded our room as we were celebrating our anniversary. We would look to stay here again if we get the chance to go back to London.

Fabulous stay

Excellent service, very helpful staff (obtained taxi during tube strike in rush hour), terrific tea, unbeatable location, near the National Gallery, West End, Hyde and St James Park, London Eye, Cabinet War Rooms, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. Train and Tube stations five minutes away. Modern en suite bathrooms, excellent water pressure, fast room service. I have done quite a bit of traveling and would go back here in a minute. More of a business travelers hotel than a tourist hotel which I loved.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t miss the rose garden in Regent’s Park. Leave at least four hours for the British Museum and be sure to include the V & A on your list.

A great location

The Royal Horseguards Hotel is located on the banks of the Thames directly across the river from the London Eye. It is within walking distance to many major sites, such as Trafalgar Square, the theatre district and there is a pedestrian bridge across the river to the London Eye. No need for electrical outlet conversion attachments as they have US-type outlets built in. The beds were very comfortable and the full English breakfast was delicious. The only odd feature was the need to put your room key card into a slot by the door to turn the lights on. Then the key had to be removed to turn the lights off at night. This caused a few stumbles in the middle of the night.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Avoid taking a taxi from Heathrow. It cost us $105 USD. We returned to Heathrow via the tube for $8 USD for two...very easy, even with 2 pieces of luggage each. Ask the tube station attendants for the best trains and ideal places to transfers. Ours recommended a station transfer where there were no stairs to have to haul our luggage up. Very helpful staff.

Great Hotel

The Royal Horseguards Hotel was ideal. It was centrally located to two underground stations, within walking distance of numerous attractions and restaurants. I will certainly recommend this to friends and family and stay there again on our next trip to London.

Traveler's tip on dining

We enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes pub, which was blocks away and numerous take out shops on Villiers Street

Wow. This is class

Great location, ambiance, room, service, food, & staff. Our room was large, clean and beautifully furnished. The location....a half block from a tube station, on the Thames, less than ten minute walk from the London Eye, Big Ben or Trafalgar Square. The lobby and restaurant staff were great at their jobs and helped cheerfully with all of our requests. My wife and I have told everyone we know about what a great choice this was for our stay.
