Fantastic experience
Oakview Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans was a fantastic experience. The proprietor Russell made us feel incredibly welcome; almost like family. His friendliness and sincere efforts to make us comfortable were greatly appriciated. The bad: he is just starting out so has a few kinks to work on. The AC in our room was broken. The good: Russell! Within seconds of finding out our AC was not working he left to purchase a new window unit and the rest of our stay was comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic: eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, grits, coffee, fruit, bagels, oatmeal... He has an open bar with plenty of wine and liquor; he will get you what you want if he does not have it. Perfect location! Beautiful view across the street from City Park, a 5 minute walk around the lagoon to the Museum and sculpture garden. The new streetcar line is right there, no French Quarter hasssle/noise/parking problems. We stayed in the Cypress room which has a sitting room and wonderful bathroom. Russell gave us a tour of the house and it is just fantastic, a typical old New Orleans home which reminded me of my grandparents house on Arabella st. I will definately stay here again, and if you are looking for a comfortable, affordable, and fantastic experience look no further- you have found it!
Traveler's tip on dining
not even 1 mile from Liuzzas, Lolas, Cafe Degas, Fairgrinds coffee. Terranovas grocery (my 1st job), Consecos (replaced Whole Food), and Pandoras snowball stand.
