There are better
This was my first time to Paris so I didnt know how many cute areas there were with better Parisian vibes. It was handy to the subway so it made it easy to get to the other areas that had better shopping, restaurants, etc. There was nothing really wrong with the hotel but I would stay in a different location next time.

Ahhhhh Pareeeee!!!
If you want to be within walking distance of the Metro (which connects easily to any Paris attraction from the Louvre to Versailles) then this hotel is an excellent choice. We had a junior suite and it was simply superb. The staff could not have been more friendly (and Im from a small rural USA town!). Most spoke English but my wife and I tried to speak some French (with a smile and help from the staff). Just a ten minute walk and you are on the Champs Elysee or at the Arc de Triomphe and a Metro connection. This year (2009) Paris prices are at least 200% higher than typical USA prices (especially in hotels), however "cafe et pan" (coffee and bread or if you prefer croissants) in the morning are more economically available at the many smaller street establishments nearby in all directions (we highly recommend the "Cafe Le Washington" on the corner of Rue Washington and Rue Lamennais for morning coffee and croissants.... and a singing proprietor!!). For dinner, easily one can walk to the many many warm restaurants found within 0.5 miles along the Rue du Fauborg Saint-Honore. If you like an evening drink the "Le Windsor" lounge in the hotel is excellent but very pricey by USA standards, especially with current Euro to dollar rates. But remember you are on vacation...... relax and splurge a little!! This Sofitel is the perfect centerpiece for your visit to beautiful Paris.
Be a good guest! The Parisians are most friendly ..... learn a few french phrases and enjoy the attempts to communicate in the native language. Be surprised at your ability to increase your French language knowledge.
