A very pleasant stay
Very good location, near the Empire State Building and the Flatiron. Cool for youngsters.

disappointing and deceiving
The only things we liked about this hotel: location and discounted parking at a lot nearby. What we didnt like: The staff. At check in the employee at the front desk had trouble locating our reservation and was rude, impatient and condescending. The rooms. A lot more money and attention was put into the hotels exterior and lobby. The hotel seemed clean but the rooms are ancient, especially the tiny, run down bathrooms. The toilet required at least 2 flushes each use, the water temp in the shower was not variable and when we plugged a hair dryer in the bathroom all of the lights flickered rapidly. The window air conditioning had a really funky smell. Without exaggeration, this was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. I knew it would be bad when we were trying to check in and I overheard a woman in the lobby who had just purchased 2 large pillows to make her remaining nights at the hotel tolerable. We considered buying pillows too but we ended up piling up extra towels under the crappy pillows. The doors to the guest rooms need to be slammed to close and the walls are thin. Each morning we woke at about 5 am to doors slamming and toilets being flushed repeatedly. We visit NYC every couple of months and have stayed in far more expensive and cheaper hotels in the city. For the price this place just sucks. Either spend a bit more and have a much more enjoyable stay or if you can deal with less save some money and stay elsewhere.

Friendly place and well located
For me the perfect place in NYC: Extremely stylish, good housekeeping, next to Empire State Building, good price. The young guy at the reception desk cold be more friendly (Juli 25th am); the bed in my room was not too comfortable and very noisy! ;-)
