Excellent place to stay mid town
I was given excellent, professional service by a very youngish staff. They were not able to communicate well in English but did convey their best efforts and even went out to the street to hail a cab for me when I left.

Good for the money
The best thing this hotel had going for it was that it was a great location to the subway, bus terminal and good eating. The rooms were QUITE small and bed was hard, as they like it in Asia, but maybe this is normal for Japan. It was clean, had shampoo, conditioner, body wash in large pump bottles, which was nice. The TV stations left much to be desired. We didnt appreciate the X rated stations as we had children traveling with us playing with the remote! The staff didnt speak much English but was very friendly and helpful.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The subway actually has some of the best food...the little stalls and a great pastry shop and the shopping was not bad. Not much in souvenoir shopping but odds and ends. Check out the Hakata dolls. Just beautiful but not cheap. Try the Green Bus sightseeing tour of the city. Well worth the time and money to be driven to the places and not have to try to figure out where to go. The Fukuoka Tower had a great view.
