Pleasant and comforting
Luckily for me, my room at the St. John Hilton was probably the most pleasant and comforting of any I have ever stayed in. I had driven over 500 miles to see a performance at the nearby Harbour Arena which was held on (a rainy) Victoria Day, a Canadian holiday, so nearly everything was closed and I spent more time in my room than I had expected. A couch, a recliner and the bed itself were all comfortable and well placed. The hotel lounge served delicious food, even on the holiday when most other places were closed. I enjoyed the club chairs and the pleasant staff too. English seemed to be the language there...I barely heard any French spoken, in case anyone is worried about communication. Mid-May is a very "off" season...the tours of the reversing tides are not yet open on the Bay of Fundy. But it gave the staff even more time to be extra accomodating. A wonderful experience.
Traveler's tip on shopping
A climate-controlled "Pedway" connects the Hilton to shops and businesses and even the Harbour Arena. The Pedway is part underground, part sky walk. It was great to be able to walk to the Arena and back afterwards without all the traffic and parking issues associated with the number of people in attendance. And even in cold or wet weather you dont need heavy clothing or an umbrella to visit the many nearby restaurants and stores.
