would stay again
the newer section of the hotel is very modern and has a great appearance. my husband I stayed in the older wing or lodge area however. quite a hike from the main desk and difficult to find if you have no clue. but the privacy of that end was great. never heard another guest and its close to the pool and fitness room. we had stayed because of a triathlon in the area so we checked out the fitness room. very state of the art and had what we were looking for in workout equipment. hotel is close to a major mall so options during down time were plentiful. we will stay here again when we come back next year

Uncomfortable Pillows and TV Channel Lineup is Politically Bias
Here are some of the issues I had during my stay: * First and foremost, the hotel only has very soft pillows. I was unable to get a firm pillow, which led to sleepless nights. * Due to my flight schedule, I checked-in late at night. The room I was given was located in a part of the hotel which was VERY difficult to find. I had to go what appeared to be a LONG maze. I had to return to the front desk to get help in finding the room. Unfortunately, upon my return to the front desk, there was nobody there for a while (I guess it was because of the time of day). When someone finally showed up, they guided me to the room, which involved going through a gazillion doors, stairs, and inside gardens. Overall, it took about 30 minutes to get to my room (from the time I was first given the key upon checking in). * The next day when I wanted to watch the evening news, I was shocked to see that only left-leaning, Liberal, news media was available in the TV channel lineup. Where is FOX News???? Given the proximitiy to Washington DC, I was appalled to see that only left-leaning news channels were available as options for guests! THIS WAS A DEAL BREAKER FOR ME and thus, the primary reason why I would NEVER stay here again. I do a lot of traveling as a result of my occupation and definitely do have a choice in where I stay. * Overall, very disappointing for the Sheratton brand. I guess they feel they only need to cater to Liberals. What a shame!

Will never stay here again
I travel to the area 1-2 times per month. I wanted to stay in a high-rise, very nice hotel so my 4 yr old son could experience this. We were placed in the "newly renovated cottage area". It was noisy, poorly cleaned and parking was terrible. Cottage living was not advertised on the website - misleading in my view. In the future I will go back to the Marriot.

Perfect Location for Concerts...
Located a nice walk from the Merriweather Post Pavilion, the Sheraton is a perfect location to enjoy any show.

Acceptable & Clean
One half of the hotel looked old & outdated, however the rooms were acceptable. Scenery was very nice.

Shreaton Columbia Hotel
The Sheraton Columbia is an aged facility in a beautiful location with views of a lake and woods. Room service was very good and the hotel restaurant was excellant. I stayed in two different rooms that each needed maintenance; Loose wall paper, broken window screen, area and plumbing (toilet) leaks. I also found the check-in process to be time consuming (about 20 minutes) as compaired to other hotels that Ive used recently.

This hotel is accross from the Colubbia Mall which is excellent for shopping.

ok stay
Rates were comparable to those in the area, and the location is good. We were put in a wing that was being renovated---the smell of fresh paint outside the room was very strong. Between the front desk and the room was a large banquet facility. We were a bit out of place walking back and forth through the formal attire evening event. Wireless internet access was available for a steep price, and the signal was very weak at best in our room.

Friendly staff
Free shuttle to Merriweather Post Pavilion was a great help and the driver went out of his way to pick us up when the event was over.

Didnt have to drive anywhere
Nice place to stay since its close to mall, merriweather and the lakefront. Didnt have to drive anywhere once we got there. Only about 20 minutes from BWI so it was very convenient and easy to find!

Nice Hotel
very nice hotel - nice outdoor pool - rooms are spacious and upscale. Wish the windows would open to let in some fresh air. Our room was a bit musty smelling.

Great Location
The hotel is in a great area - walking distance from the Columbia Mall which has everything. Although very pleased with the room overall, they needed a bit of updating. The hallways were showing lots of wear. Staff was very nice and accomodating. Id recommend this hotel to others especially if they can get a good rate.

Had issues
Asked for non-smoking room, had to be moved 3 times before a room didnt smell like smoke. They failed to honor wake up call request.

Security
Not comfortable in the hotel because it didnt seem very secure. There was a gap in the door frame where the lock met. My room was located far from the main desk area.

Pleasant surprise
At first we were a bit skeptical of the hotel since the reviews seemed so mixed. But our stay turned out to be really comfortable and quite pleasant. We requested a Tower room when checking in, since we were told to beware of the lady bugs in the Inn section, but we got a room in the Garden section which was really clean and well kept. Also, we even received free buffet breakfast tickets since we werent able to get our first choice room. The staff was really accomodating and for the cost, this hotel was well worth it.

Highly recommended!
The hotel was wonderful! Bright, airy, clean, and spacious! And the bed was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Columbia, or the DC/Baltimore region in general.

Exceptionally fine value.
Apart from the fact that it takes an advanced degree in geography to fine the fitness center, we could not have been more pleased with this hotel. Staff was wonderfully accommodating. The restaurant (we only ate breakfast) was spot on, and the room was wonderfully comfortable and conveniently organized.

Very nice accomodations
Went for a wedding reception also. Food was one of the best "hotel food" receptions I have been to.

Forget Bed-bugs, This was Worse
I have no idea how this property could have gained 3.5 stars. Heres our factual account of the experience: - Wife (8-months pregnant) and I check in @ 11:45pm - We go to room 316, get settled in, pull back the sheets and find a ladybug crawling around near the pillows. Shortly, we find no less than 7 ladybugs dead and alive on the bed, carpet, ceiling and bathroom. - We alert the front desk and pack up - We are moved to 414. A handicap room. Immediately upon entry we recognize that the carpet is absolutely filthy, large stains, dirt and spots everywhere. The end tables and bathroom are filthy, and there is a small chink of something awful encrusted to the base of the toilet. Awesome. - We alert the front desk, and after 10 minutes have to go down there. - They apologize, and offer us free liquor, even after I mention that neither of us drink. We get free breakfast stubs. Tremendous. - The night security/housekeeper checks the next room in advance and says that all is good. Great, we are exhausted at this point. - We are moved to room 514. Another handicap room. We notice immediately that there are several live and dead ladybugs in this room as well. Ceiling, floor and in our spacious handicap shower stall along w/leftover shampoo from the previous visitor. Worse and the absolute capper... dried urine stains on either side of the base of the massive plastic handicap seat topper. After holding back our vomit we go back down to the front desk. 3.5 stars?? Really?? Really.

- "No good, again??" the desk attendant asks. We blank stare. "Well we do have a lot of ladybug issues on that side," I think he says to reassure us. - Second agent comes out and asks sarcastically, "What?? Are you guys bringing these bugs with you??" - 12:45am, we check out and drive back home.
