Best Western Mountain View Inn (Palo Alto Area)

Best stay for your money.

I’ve looked on the web at all the other motels in this area and what they have to offer. I’ve also stayed at a couple of them. I always keep coming back to this one. They offer the most for the money and they are the most consistent in their level of service and having everything in perfect working order in the rooms. If you’re needing to be in Palo Alto, like I am from time to time, they are only a few minutes away but substantially less money than Palo Alto motels. Also, there is a Whole Foods Market just 2 blocks away (food heaven!) for those who want a quiet meal in your room via refrig and microwave. The last time we were there we forgot to bring paper plates and utensils and the front desk person graciously gave us a few. All in all, this place is definitely a couple of cuts above the other places I have stayed for the same price.

Motel is just a few minutes away from a really happening 7000-member multi-ethnic church -- Abundant Life Christian Fellowship. They have 2 services on Saturday evening and 2 Sunday morning. They also have a 2-hour INTENSE praise and worship service every 4th Wednesday at 7:30 PM. It’s a much better high than any touristy-type attraction, if you are interested. (Nov. will be the 3rd Wednesday for obvious reasons.) Also, if you like Chinese food, try Chef Chu’s, across the street from the San Antonio Shopping Center. YUM. Delicious food, gracious atmosphere, friendly and fast service.

Dissapointed in this hotel- not up to standard

Hot breakfast consisted of waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage no variety or changes Hot cereal- oatmeal No variety, fruit was always oranges and apples. Some oranges were dry and not fresh NO BANANAS Breakfast served later on the weekends- not good for those who have to be elsewhere at an early hour.

Hotel on the bus route- expensive ($1.75) was very conveient to Stanford University (25 min) Not many eating establishments nearby if you are without a car and need to walk to them

Good price for location!

Price for the hotel is right on. Just a little outside of Palo Alto, but easy access to get into the Stanford University area.

Whole Food’s, Wal-Mart and other retailers close by.

Breakfast was pretty good. The room has a hugh bathroom space (without bathtub, tho) and was reasonably clean overall. I recommend this place.

Breakfast only serves until 9am sharp!

Relaxing Stay

I was hesitant at first because I normally prefer hotels that do not have outside access to hotel rooms. However, this Best Western was a great deal for the time we stayed. I was impressed with their continental breakfast and workout room. Also, the room featured amenities including a mini fridge and microwave. Our room was cleaned promptly and the service desk was very helpful. It is also within walking distance to Whole Foods. I would definitely stay there again.

If business calls for that area, I’ll be back

This is an older hotel, but that doesn’t matter. The bed was extremely comfortable and I got a good night’s rest. The front desk people were very nice. They served breakfast that included protein, which is amazing, but it’s just basic, nothing four star. I will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Traveler's tip

There is a Whole Foods store just down the street. I picked up a yummy dinner from there and took it back to my room, got connected to the free WIFI in the room, and relaxed.

Good comfortable stay

Nice clean hotel for a good price. Good breakfast buffet in the morning, but better not be a minute late because they shut it down right on the dot of their schedule.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you have a car and arrive back late parking can be an issue. There seems to be an unmarked entrance to a rear parking area that didn’t seem to be used much.

Satisfactory accomodations- comfortable, no frills

Desk staff friendly,free breakfast quite good, room comfortable. Electronic card keys require multiple insertions but work eventually

Good internet deal

Went for a 2 day stay and it was perfect for our needs: comfortable & clean room for the night with wireless internet and close to friends in Palo Alto area. One thing to check is that the next morning we found out our room didn’t lock from the outside - good thing I always lock from the inside. They moved us to a new room (next door) immediately. Unfortunately, I did a double check of our old room and found 1) it was still unlocked; and 2) someone new had checked into it. Still gave good reviews despite this because the area overall felt fairly safe.

Great rate, nice place

The room was great. 30 minutes north and the price would have been doouble. Breakfast was also great. And free!!

Great deal on the peninsula

All hotel staff were very competent and friendly. The hotel rooms were immaculate and comfortable. The continental breakfast (plus eggs, sausages and waffles) was a nice touch. A great deal on the peninsula

Worth the price

It is a good place for this price. But the room was hot at night even though outside was cool. The air circulation wasn’t good at all.

More than I expected

The hotel was a whole lot better than I expected. The room was nicely furnished and clean. For the price I paid, this hotel gave me a lot more.

Nice little place

Comfortable temperature and beds and bedding. Coke machine wasn’t operational. Neat, tidy little motel.

Efficient for our needs

We were in town for a graduation, and this hotel was really only used as a "bedroom," as we were out and about each day. For that purpose it was perfect -- clean, functional, less expensive. The warm breakfast each day was a plus!

I always like Best Western!

In town from Colorado for The Dead tour at Shoreline. Nice hotel. Very large and clean rooms. Reasonably priced. Very close to Shoreline. Many places nearby to eat. Would stay there again.

Unwelcome knocking on the door...

The maid knocked several times early on two mornings and we had the "do not disturb" sign on the door...

Great value for money, great service

I’ve stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last year, and always had the same high quality of service. Friendly staff, excellent housekeeping and really decent continental breakfast. The hotel is a little out of the way if your main business is in Palo Alto/Stanford, but IMHO if you have a car, the 4 mile distance is a small price to pay for the hotel room-rate, and quality of service.

One of the better Best Westerns

We have tried a bunch of Best Westerns in our travels across the US, and this was perhaps the Best! Well located, clean, good service, great internet, and fresh waffles for breakfast.

Good Value

Pretty good stay for the money. I have paid more at other motels and gotten far less.

Traveler's tip on dining

Whole Foods Market across the street and 2 blocks down. Bring your paper plates and utensils and make good use of the refrigerator and microwave after shopping there! YUM! Also, there is a great Chinese restaurant across the street from the San Antonio Shopping Center, on El Camino Real, but I forget the name...

Bathroom lighting needs improvement

Mattress was great. General lighting is very poor. Vanity lighting over the sink is terrible, making it impossible to apply make-up. Toilet/shower area very small and also poorly lit. Other than that, the room was comfortable. The large easy chair was a bonus.
