Great Hotel

Great hotel. Staff spoke excellent english. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Free breakfast buffet was very good. Small market area just a few streets away that had many excellent restaurants. Safe area

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t bother about fancy expensive restaurants. Great market area just a few streets away with lots of restaurants. Try the seafood ones for freshwater fish.

Very nice for a reasonable price

Good location, great breakfast, friendly helpful staff & reasonably priced for Vienna. I would recommend this hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Probably best not to walk through the Karlsplatz station but go via the road because of the junkies being everpresent in the underground station. Didn’t feel particularly comfortable with their presence! Otherwise all attractions within walking distance!

a nice place to stay in

it is a nice place to stay, stilish and confortable... not really what you can expect from a Vienna luxury hotel, but worth the price... and the breakfast makes up for it

Unique and Grows on you

My wife and I arrived at the Das Triest after midnight after driving by car from Munich we were surprised and happy to find someone waiting for us in the lobby with our room (prepaid correctly) and ready to take and park our car. At first the hotel does not seem like a lot as the first few spaces you see are somewhat utilitarian and artistic... however the Hotel quickly grows on you as you find the staff extremely friendly and the Hotel itself full of unique charm and style. The Sliver Bar has quite possibly one of the best bartenders I have ever seen, running the whole place by himself and making a perfect martini. One morning we arrived to breakfast 30 minutes late and the kitchen staff prepared us a light snack and coffee and brought it to us in the lounge even though they were setting up for lunch already. That type of service, on top of clean rooms, a stylish courtyard, and great bar would make us stay there again in a heartbeat! We just simply did not want to leave. The only small complaint of our entire stay was the central AC unit lacked good controls in the room and it was a bit hot at night.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Rent a car, and take a day trip to the Danube Valley just north of Vienna. A beautiful stretch of road along the river with the Melk Abby and hikable ruins on hilltops as highlights

excellent choice if you want to splurge

We stayed for three nights at the end of September and were very satisfied with our stay. The staff were extremely helpful in accommodating our requests (checking on opera tickets, etc.), and the hotel is a short walk away from some of the main sights (St. Stephen’s, Staatsoper, Secession building). The breakfast was included in our rate and was fantastic. We had difficulty with the wireless internet in our room but we used our laptop in the lobby and the connection was fine. The Molton Brown bath products were a plus!

a hotel with modern decoration

very good decoration. location is closed to U-line and with walking distance to the sightseeing center. No airconditioning. It could not be disastrous in a summer time like 2007. The room is quite comfortable and clean, especially the bathroom. The bed is small and not very comfort. No Internet access in room. Just old small TV.

Traveler's tip

The temperature in summer could be from 20 to 40 degree (110 F). Very unpredictable.

Very Nice place to stay in Vienna

Very nice place 5 min walk from Grand Opera. Not a very plesant walk though. I’d consider walk as acceptible. Otherwise the hotel is great. Minimalistic style, not extra kitchy-plushy, but roomy enough by european standards. has desant gym and good souna. The real pleasure was outdoor sitting in the restaurant. Sort of enclosed backyard. And extremly nice, friendly and helpful stuff
