Traveling Gambler

This hotel is great for the price in South Tuscon! I ran into problems soon as I got to door of my room! It was Jammed! I proceeded to force it open. I reported it to the front desk, and the man working said he’d have maintenence look at it the evening! When I went to unlock my room the next night, The problem was worse! So, I go to front desk and the lady said there wasn’t anything she could do now! I was extemely mad and told her I’d kick it in. Well, that’s just what I’d to do---Kick-It-In because even with a several shoulder trusts, it remained jammed.(I weigh 280 and I’m extremely strong in my upper body) Also, It left paint-shredings all over the carpet. It gets better, the front desk guy said he forgot to tell maintenence to fix it. They fixed it that day, but left more paint-shredings in my carpet! I reported it that night and I was told housekeeping would clean it up the next day-----of course, they didn’t and I’d to complain again to get the carpet cleaned. Well, if you can deal with not gettting the terrible service I got during week’s stay here, Red Roof Tucson South is worth it! They also have soft beds, in-room pay perview movies, and a very nice outdoor pool and jacuzzi! Question is, did I just have bad luck with their terrible service, or is all their hotel guess treated the same manner????

Convenient hotel for birders

I was in Tucson for some mid-October birding and found this RRI to be a convenient and economic spot to base my day trips. It is easy on/off for I-10 and close to I-19 as well. I was able to make it to all the local hotspots quickly (Sweetwater, Mt. Lemon, Desert Museum, Madera Canyon, Reid Park, Patagonia Lake, Sonoita Creek, Whitewater Draw, Sierra Vista, San Pedro River, etc.). The room was fine for basic accommodations, but don’t expect anything fancy...no fridge, coffee-maker, microwave. The complete opposite of one of those cute B&Bs in one of the canyons. The adjacent Denny’s was fine, but the only other nearby food is Wendy’s. I found the place to be pretty quiet and peaceful and had very little interaction with the staff. It was fine for a single male traveler who was gone from dawn to dusk and only interested in a reasonable place to sleep at night. Families and single females might have a different reaction since it was pretty Spartan.
