Low quality 3 star in questionable location
This hotel is not on the outskirts of Brussels; it is on the south side of the city and a 10-15 minute walk to the center and only 5 minutes from the most used train station--the Gare du Midi also called the Zuid train station in Dutch. The problem is that you have to walk through some unattractive areas to get to the center of the city. But the centrality of the location is actually the hotels strong point (if you are not a woman alone). The negatives are the extremely small room with hard surface floors which makes the hotel very noisy and the fact that it is an ancient hotel and everything seems to be breaking or making a lot of noise. Also the staff is not very knowledgeable nor particularly helpful. They seem not to expect much from this hotel and nor should you although I wouldnt call it dreadful....just barely acceptable at best. Breakfast is okay.....nothing more....but dont leave your valuables even for a minute since someone it seemed came in from the street to steal a ladys purse which she had left on her seat about 10 feet from the buffet during my stay.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you stay here use the tram station-Lemonier- across the street which is paradoxically underground to connect to the metro system since the sane ticket can be used on both without need to pay for a transfer (as long as it is within one hour travel.) This way you avoid walking to the main town through the questionable areas.

It was OK.
The hotel is old and you can see that in the rooms. The TV is super small and the remote was so worn that you couldnt see what buttons were what. The breakfast is OK but not amazing. It is in a decent location, pretty close to the train station.
