wonderful experience...planning our next stay now!
The owner is the fifth generation owner of this beautiful old home. That fact in itself is impressive to me. She has come back to restore her family home and there is lots of work going on. The reason I gave Condition of Hotel a four is because there is a lot of work going on but there is still a lot left to do. The interior is just beautiful, however. It will be a showcase when complete! This is one of the oldest homes in Natchez. Much of the furniture is original to the house. Esther, the owner, and her friend, William, a professional butler by trade, were the most warm, accomodating hosts weve ever met. We received a private tour of the home and each of the guest bedrooms are equally impressive and beautiful. We stayed on the third floor in the Cassell room, which was the homes attic and is just huge. The beds in the room were very comfortable and the bathroom had a lovely, large walk-in shower and a new claw foot bathtub. We had a private balcony that overlooked the front of the house. We dined with the other guests at breakfast and were served on the antique china. Esther is a wonderful chef and the service was impeccable. This was quite a treat! I cannot say enough good things about this home and the service we received. Please - do go and enjoy your stay! I am planning next years trip now!
We went for the Fall Pilgrimage. It lasted two weekends. The Spring Pilgrimage lasts about a month and will have many more houses open for tours. They also have a Cotillion and a Play at night during the Spring Pilgrimage not available during the Fall. Well go back in the Spring to see different homes and those two night-time events. Loved Mammys Cupboard. just outside of town. It is a fun spot for lunch and pictures. Open for lunch only. Theres a casino, too, if you like that sort of thing. Carriage ride through downtown is a plus.
