True luxury
Its a suite, so I could sleep while she stayed awake in the other room. Its incredibly spacious, well furnished, and our room was dog friendly with great access to a lovely outdoor area. A kitchenette and two coffee-makers, a fold-out bed in the living room which we didnt need makes it very flexible for a long-term stay (we only were there for two nights). An amazing value and the best place Ive ever stayed in Ashland.

Excellent value, and very pet-friendly
The Village Suites is one of the best values Ive ever encountered in a hotel: picturesque surroundings; large, clean, comfortable rooms; and thoughtful service. I was traveling with my labrador retriever, and when we checked in, the friendly clerk handed us a packet of dog biscuits wrapped in a sheet of paper that listed nearby pet shops, vet clinics, and pet-grooming facilities. There was also a large grassy space designated as a play area for pets. This hotel sends a message that goes way beyond "Pets OK." Its more like "We love pets!" Village Suites convenient location just off Interstate 5 and a couple of miles from downtown Ashland is another plus. I would definitely go back again--even without my dog.

Undergoing Transition
Weve stayed at the Village Suites more than a dozen times (it was previously part of the Windmill chain) and like the location (just off of I-5), the comfortable configuration of the rooms (separate bed room), the fact it is pet friendly, the reasonable rates and the pleasant staff. A word of caution however - this property is being converted into something (maybe condos?) and only one wing (Building C) is open - meaning there is no access to the pool or lobby or other usual hotel features. This said, we will continue to stay there until something dramatic changes (such as rates).
Traveler's tip on dining
Lots of nice restaurants - one of our favorites is Cuchina Biazz located a couple of miles away in a converted Victorian home with out door dining in good weather
