Just a little noisy

If you can handle the construction next door this hotel is a real steal. We found that when in the room with the drapes closed we could not hear a thing and we were on the side next to the hotel under construction. Would love to go back.

Comfortable & Value

We took advantage of a great rate deal and had a great stay. Room was very nice and location was convenient to bus lines and within walking distance of neighborhoods. Construction next door didn’t have any impact on our stay.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Taking bus to Grandville Island, Stanley Park, etc is convenient.

Great Hotel in the Center of Everything

This hotel is very elegant, rooms are modern and comfortable. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Check-in and out was hassle free. I got a terrific rate on Expedia that included internet access and parking (for which they normally charge extra). This hotel is located in Downtown Vancouver within a 10 minute walk of most things or a 10 minute car ride for even more. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great place for before or after cruise

We debarked at Canada Place at 8:30 am and figured we could go to the hotel and have them hold our bags until we could check in. It was only a $5.00 cab ride-it is walkable if you have VERY little luggage. I didn’t want to try it. We were VERY pleasantly surprised when they were able to put us in a room right away. there was construction but unless you plan to sleep past 8 or stay in your room all day, it won’t be a problem. All the staff were very helpful.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

You can walk to just about everything. Public transportation is readily available. If you are going to stay in Vancouver you won’t need a car.

Very Impressed

I chose this hotel because of the price and closeness to the cruise ship pier. I was very happily suprised to find this was a first class hotel. It was very modern and the room was great. The bathroom had a separate tub and shower with big fluffy towels! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice hotel

We enjoyed our stay here in Vancouver. Good location and nice hotel. We didn’t spend much time in hotel but I would stay there again for sure. The only complaint was the bed squeaked annoyingly.

Traveler's tip on dining

The dinner recommendation of the concierge was a bit off the mark

I’d do it all over again

We had a very pleasant stay. Customer service was friendly and helpful. We were allowed to check in early and check out late. Great location, close to everything. You can walk almost anywhere or hop on a convenient bus cab or tour bus. Even the new Canada Line railway was just 2 blochs away. Rooms were excellent. Very clean and roomy. Would definitely stay here again.

Bring your own alarm clock

This is a VERY nice hotel, though expensive. The price for breakfast starts at $19. The only thing about the room I didn’t like is the alarm clock. It is the hardest thing to set I have ever seen! The girl at the front desk urged me to write to the hotel and complain as she said it is the most frequent complaint she gets, and she cannot get the management to do anything about it.

Excellent choice in Vancouver!

This clean Metropolitan Hotel was located conveniently 2 blocks away from our conference site at Hyatt Hotel. Our room had a super king-size bed and a large bathroom with a charming shower room. The front desk was very friendly, concierge and door men were very kind and helpful. Their suggestions on dining places were exactly what we were looking for. We could not ask for more. We highly recommend this hotel for business or vacation. It is located in the heart of Vancouver and the art museum is one block away. Furthermore, people in Vancouver are open-minded and extremely friendly. They surely are ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics. You will love to stay here. We plan to come back here sometime.

Traveler's tip on dining

Sciue Italian Cafe (800 W Pender Street) is perfect for lunch and Shanghai Chinese Bistro (1124 Alberni Street), a few blocks away from the hotel, offers super Chinese foods. Their Dungennes crab dish was tasty!

Great value and location

Great location about 5 blocks from Canada Place, one from Art Gallery with nearby restaurants and shops. Bed was usually comfortable, bathroom was spacious and well-appointed. Concierge was very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and got great value for our money.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The 2010 Olympic countdown clock is about a block away--in front of the Art Gallery.

Very Satisfied

Service was excellent. Noise was not an issue although we were there on a Sat. nite. Short walk to lunch/dinner west of the Art Gallery which is in the next block, breakfast place 1 block north was good. 1 block from both city tour line stops. Could use 1 more elevator

The Metropolitan - one of Vancouver’s best boutique hotels

Despite the construction going on around it, the Met remains a peaceful oasis. Fabulous dining, extremely comfortable rooms and within walking distance to everything in the business district. I have stayed in several Vancouver hotels during my business trips, and I will always go back to the Met.

Traveler's tip on dining

Good restaurants within walking distance are Cactus, Gotham and the Shore Club.

It was pure luxury!

Everything about this hotel was first class. From the minute we arrived everyone was friendly and helpful, the doorman, the bell boys, the receptionist. The rooms were spacious and beautiful, with all the amenities. The beds were very comfortable. Our friends recommended this hotel to us and we certainly would recommend it to others. Great place to stay, right in the middle of downtown vancouver.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We took a Revolution bus tour of Vancouver and were able to see all the points of interest. We completed the one hour tour to see everything and stayed on the bus and got off at places we wanted to visit. We spent all day getting on and off the bus and were able to see everything we wanted. It was a great way for a first time visitor to see Vancouver.

Wonderful

Just a great hotel experience. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Parking is pricy in Vancouver; here, too but could be worth it.

A fine place to stay in the city.

The Metropolitan was top notch. It was almost across the street from a large shopping mall, and within easy walking distance of many fine shops. I would highly recommend this hotel to singles or couples traveling to Vancouver.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

DO NOT BOOK THE VANCOUVER HOP-ON HOP-OFF BUS. THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE, WE WERE TAKEN ON A BROKEN BUS AND HAD TO GET OFF AND WAIT FOR ANOTHER. WE SHOULD HAVE HAD A REFUND. I AM SURPRISED EXPEDIA HAS THIS "service"on their site.

Very nice hotel, spotless, great location

Stayed there one night before going on a cruise. Didn’t arrive until 1A.M., no problem, staff knew who we were when I called from the airport and joked that one more person still hadn’t checked in. Look forward to staying there again when we have more time.

Wonderful hotel in a city under construction

With the Winter Olympics not far away most of downtown Vancouver is under construction. As is the hotel next door to the Metropolitan. I’ve stayed in hotels before that have attempt to hide a noise issue or still expected you to pay full price to listen to jack hammers at 7am, but the Metropolitan was different. The thing that impressed me the most about this hotel was that they’ve lowered their rates while the building next door is under construction. This wonderful hotel cost us much less than it should have and even though our room was right next to the building under construction we bearly heard a thing. The noise level was no worse than the traffic on the street (a low rumble that you didn’t notice unless you were listening for it). The staff were great, helping us with all our needs. We especially appreciated the efforts of the concerige who had to deal with a particularly difficult sales person while booking our hire car for us. The room was great, with lots of space and modern finishes. Our room even contianed a mini bar. There was very little noise from the neighbouring rooms which was another bonus of our stay. The pool, spa and outdoor putting course were also a plus. I would definiately recommend this hotel, despite the hotel next door being under construction, which didn’t bother us at all. I would stay there again if I get back to Vancouver.

Traveler's tip on dining

Being an Australian a long way from home it was wonderful to stumble on "Moose DownUnder" an Australian resturant run by a lady from Perth. If you’re looking for some old favourites from home, try this place.
