nice hotel, but poor manager service....

we were VERY pleased with our room and the overall condition of this hotel. breakfast was Wonderful and the housekeepers were great.... but the managers and their customer service at this hotel are the downfall.... we had an incident that would have been considered "norm" and "completely reasonable" in the US but there the manager reacted almost with hostility towards us, accusing us of absurd accusations.... this matter was no where Near resolved in a decent manner. we’d certainly highly recommend this hotel had it not been for this circumstance, but when you are in an area that is 60% american tourists, they Need to be more customer service oriented! gorgeous hotel.... stunning location... but if i were to go again, i’d stay somewhere else.....

we HIGHLY recommend renting a scooter to get around the area! positano is built on the side of a mountain SO to get anywhere is quite an amount of exercise! rent a scooter and be able to drive anywhere!! the surrounding areas of positano are gorgeous and are worth riding thru! another tip.... if you fly into naples, get out of there as quickly as possible! its very urban and not very safe. positano is nothing like naples. so spend as little time as possible in naples so you can get to positano!! :) as far as food goes... buy water/fresh produce at local markets! prices are very reasonable and the local produce is Delicious!! most places speak some english. oh, and when you shop, they dont want you to touch the clothes! :) i highly recommend this area of italy!!

729 steps up!

I traveled with my sister, and we really just used this hotel as a place to crash and shower, etc. We hardly spent any time in the room, but I can say that eating the complimentary breakfast on our room’s balcony was a great way to start each morning. Beautiful views from the balcony! We stayed there 3 nights. Staff’s English was hit or miss. My only complaint is that this hotel is 729 steps up form the beach, so you either should be very fit and willing to take the stairs, or you have to be willing to take the hotel’s shuttle or the local bus, which both usually require a short-ish wait.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Take one of the day-long boat trips from Posiano’s beach. The Amalfi and Sorrento coast tour was incredible.
