Time’s have changed

Two years ago we stayed at the Portland Marriott city center and it was a wonderful experience which is why we chose not to make reservations with our friends at the Hotel Monaco and went back to the Marriott. Times have changed. The bed was still a king, but it seemed like the mattress was old and lumpy. They may have done a remodel in the area of the hotel we stayed previously. The carpet in the room we stayed in was old and dirty, it felt gross to walk across. There was a minibar fridge in the room, but it was on a dolly and not plugged in. We found out later the reason it was not plugged in was because the fridge made loud noises. So it was unplugged again.

Voodoo Doughnuts for breakfast. Long lines, but totally worth the wait. Get a Bacon Maple bar. The Kennedy School school is a 15-20 cab ride from City Center and a ton of fun. There are a number of bars and places to eat inside this old elementary school as well as a movie theater. Ground Kontrol is in Chinatown and has all the old school arcade games you used to play as a kid. This last time we went they had added Smash TV which I haven’t played for years.
