Good location, but not much else to recommend

Picked this hotel for a conference because it was a block away from my main conference hotel which was full by the time I tried to book, and the price was right. And for the price, it was OK. The sign on the entry door says "no firearms" so that’s your indicator of style right there. The room was a good size and clean, and the bed didn’t hurt my back. But... the bathroom sink dripped loudly, the TV picture was green, the walls are v.thin, the wi-fi only worked in one corner of the room. You get the idea. OK if you need to be downtown and can’t spend a lot, but no special features to recommend.

Traveler's tip on dining

Graeters. Black raspberry chocolate chip. That is all.

Almost Perfect

Everything about the hotel was superb except for the fact that the walls between the room were very "thin" - you could hear everything going on next door! And I mean EVERYTHING! Except for that.... it was a pefect place to stay. We went to Cincy for a football game (Go Steelers!) and it was convenient to the stadium, to public transportation, to restaurants, shops, bars, and cheap parking. The hotel staff was courteous and very helpful. The hotel was perfectly clean and well-appointed. But the neighborly "passion" was a bit much - at 3 a.m. Then again at 5 a.m. However - considering the rest of the experience, along with the price, I’ll be returning next year.

Old hotel, not upgraded in a long time

Potentially a very nice hotel, but everything was old, especially carpets which smelled very bad in the hallways, and seemed full of stains in the rooms. The sheets were too small for the bed, and the (old) alarm clock was broken. There was a feeling of faded glories about the whole place, as the bathrooms and the main lobby have a lot of beautiful marble. The service was good, though, and the complimentary breakfast full and delicious. So, for the price we paid we’re satisfied, but just be aware of what you’re getting.

Paper Thin Walls

This hotel was convenient to walk to The Great American Ballpark, but that was it. The walls were very thin, you could hear everything that went on in the hallway, or the next room. Valet parking was the only parking option offered for the hotel, otherwise find a lot nearby.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Convenient for Reds games and the Cadillac Ranch.

Good for the price

Although we did not get the type of room that we thought we had reserved, the hotel did it’s best to accommodate our needs during a very busy weekend stay. The service was good. The continental breakfast helped save a few dollars as well. Overall fine stay for one night.

Traveler's tip

Parking is at a premium. The Valet Parking was extra, but worth the money.

Good location but small.

As far as the location goes- it was great, everything was well within walking distance. We had a room with 2 double beds & it was small- and the beds seemed smaller than normal. Asked for more coffee for the room, security brought it up but unfortunately it couldn’t be used since they brought the kind that needed a filter (not the kind that somes int he filter). The staff was extremely nice & tried to be very helpful.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you are going to stay here then get the package with the valet parking included- it’s $20 there to pay for it seperately. Also there is a restraunt nearby called "Rock Bottom" food was okay (nothing really great)and the prices are a little on the high side.

GOOD PICK

This hotel was a great pick. My three friends and I went up to spend the weekend. The hotel is in a perfect location right in downtown. We went to Kings Island and the drive was only 20 minutes!

This is luxury???

I booked this hotel for a stay in early July 2008 primarily because it was kind of near Great American Ballpark and seemed to have pretty good feedback. The hotel, however, was terrible on nearly all levels. Not only was the place old and run-down, with saggy beds, stained linens, and sandpaper towels, but it has tilt-in windows with no screens. Someone left the window in our room open prior to our checking in, so when we tried to settle in for the night, we had to spend half an hour catching and releasing the dozen or so ginormous moths (Cincy is famous for them) that had entered the room. We also went looking for bottled water, but the soda machines on ALL eight floors of the hotel were completely sold out, and there are no late-night markets for blocks around the hotel. (Cincy, in fact, seems to be a ghost town after 11pm, aside from seedy bars.) The "pastries" in the complementary breakfast the next morning were so scary looking that it was my 10-year-old son who first said, "Uh, Dad...I’m not eating that. No way." I think what makes it even more annoying is that the manager is never available to discuss the problem. In retrospect, I should have followed my instinct when I booked this and found something at one of the exits just north of the city. You could not pay me enough to stay here again.

Would stay again

Stayed in a suite to see a Red’s game. Room was nice, staff friendly. Check in is at level 8 so a little up and down when you check in. Room did smell like smoke but not overwhelming. Self park the car is right across the street. I would stay here again. I was able to get a wireless signal in my room.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

See the Red’s baseball museum if you like baseball, very well done. Montgomery’s was a restaurunt with good food and great service on the River.

Good location & great service

We were very pleased with the location of the Terrace Hotel. The service was wonderful. The hotel is older so the decor was somewhat outdated but that didn’t interfere with the comfort.

Not Impressed

Just such a pretty place in the lobby for the room to be as uncomfortable as it was. The bed was broken down, the carpet was from the 70’s, and the card reader kept kicking my card and that was a long walk.

It was Okay.

The walls are very thin. We could hear the guest in the next room snoring all night. It is an aging hotel. So, it was a bit dirty. Overall, the price was good for downtown.

Service Excellence!!

This is a wonderfully quaint hotel - but not for "posh" snobs. OK, the furniture and decor are dated - but the sheets are soft, ironed and crisp. In the room, there is an ironing board, blow dryer and in-room coffee. (Those are my big 3) The location is perfect - you can walk anywhere. The best part of staying here is the top notch friendly staff - Valet, Dsk Clerk, maids. Top to bottom they are A+++. I would definately stay with these friendly folks again. Chris

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Be sure to book the roomo + valet parking package if you have a car to save $$$.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Nice but a bit dated .

This was a nice hotel. I had a room with a nice skyline view of downtown Cincinnati. The front desk and hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. although my room was not stocked with enough towels for the number of people in my room They did bring me more on request. The rooms did look and feel dated; but not unkept. Old but not quite charming. Their breakfast included cold cereal, muffins and pastries , orange and apple juice, and instant oatmeal; coffee and tea , and fresh fruit.

Great Room - Reserve the corner suite

Lots of space, great view, nice location. Fridge was broke and they came right up to fix it. Nice to have complimentary breakfast. Excellent valet parking - had car ready in less than 10 minutes. Friendly atmosphere.

Gorgeous Lobby, not so nice bathrooms

The lobby, valet area, elevators and hallways were gorgeous with their marble accents and rich colours but that elegance ends there. The room was small, the beds were advertised as two doubles but were actually twins, and not very comfortable. The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet was the same as the one’s you found in public restrooms and about as clean as one. The bathtub and shower area looked as though it had not been cleaned in a month. When housekeeping went through, they tried to kick us out an hour early and could be heard knocking on the doors of rooms on the opposite end of the hallway as though they were knocking on ours.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The Hotel is in the perfect location to shop at high end stores, such as Sacks, Macey’s and the Tower Mall.
