Pay more for a more modern hotel

The room was nothing like the ones they show on the website. It was tiny and very hot in the room. The window was a tilt-in type and it only opened about 2 inches from the top, making it impossible to get any fresh air in the room. There was no vent in the bathroom, just adding to the temp problem. After two days, I couldn’t take it any more and insisted that I be moved. The tv was about 9 inches across and you needed binoculars to watch it and the 6 channels that it got. The hairdryers in both rooms overheated within 2 minutes of turning them on. No free internet in the room or at the desk. I regret not researching (before booking this place) other, more modern hotels, in the Chelsea-Kensington area, of which there were many. They were slightly more, certainly not double the price, but were ten times more luxurious and comfortable. I don’t mind basic accomodations in an attempt to be economical, but this was a huge mistake. If you’ve already booked it, I would suggest, upon check-in, previewing the room they’ve assigned.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Never, ever take a cab! It costs about $12 us dollars to go one mile!! Use the Tube and buy an Oyster card. It’s cheaper and faster getting through the turnstiles with it. If travelling well outside of London, check the schedules for the high speed train on the National Rail service. It will cut the travel time, to Dover, for example by half. Also, you get a slightly better exchange rate if you use your charge card instead of converting money. It’s not alot, but it does add up.

Never Again

The location of the hotel was suitable because it was close the underground station. The cleanliness and comfort of the hotel does not impressed at all.

Hotel was ok, except for one bed of three

We were happy with the Ambassadors Hotel except one of the three beds in the room contained bedbugs. This caused one of my traveling companions to be bit several times the first two nights, the third night we double bunked in one of the other two twin beds. The breakfast was not good, beans and sausage not up to American standards.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Other than the problem of one of three twin beds in our room for three gentlemen having bedbugs we were happy with the accomodations. The location close by the Earls Court Underground Station was convenient, with a number of close by restaurants
