Wrecking ball
When we arrived at the hotel we walked in to a lobby that was wood studs, concrete floor and piles of stuff. Im not talking about just a corner or half, the entire lobby was gone. There were no signs directing guests to an alternate lobby. Finally found the registration tucked into a room on one of the two halls. Checked in, dropped luggage in the room and went to dinner. Came back and began unpacking. Got ready for bed and pulled the bedspread/blanket back. yuck! The bed had a big clump of hair in it and dirty, rumpled sheets! Went back to the front desk to request a change and there was no one who could do it. Instead they moved us to a different room. Had to pack everything up after a long day of airports and waiting and move. While I applaud the hotel sprucing things up (it was in really bad shape) I think they could have done an infinitely better job of making the lobby and makeshift lobby more accessible. Several times I went looking for staff and wandered around for some time before I found someone. They rarely answered the phone in the makeshift lobby. The area where breakfast was moved to could accommodate about 5 people, so we rounded up our breakfast and ate it in our room. They should have shut the hotel down during the renovation. They also should have redone the rooms first as they were very old, worn and in need of some attention. If the room had been nicer, we would have had a lot less to complain about.
Traveler's tip on dining
Several nice restaurants on Webb Rd. Granite City, P. F. Changs both had great food and service.

Good value
We appreciated the convenience of the "24 hour store" within the hotel where you could buy soda and snacks. The complimentary breakfast was nice, too.
