Beautiful hotel in great location
Only negative to this hotel is the noise from the back street till 4 in the morning. Try to get room toward front of the hotel on the River Liffey side.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Take the air coach bus from the Dublin airport to the city (only 7 euros). For NFL football,go about 6 blocks North of the River Liffey to the Wool Shed to watch live NFL football on huge screens.

The Clarence is Lovely
The Clarence is in a perfect location with a perfect staff. Although owned by U2, it is a very quiet hotel. Reminded me of a Swiss hotel with its cleanliness and cozy comfort. The staff is wonderful. Rooms are beautiful, modern and comfortable.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Stay in Temple Bar. You can walk everywhere to Grafton Street shopping, great restaurants and youre in the cultural center of Dublin.

Disappointed
When reading reviews about the Clarence, it was often referred to as "the coolest hotel in Dublin" and was ranked as one of the top hotels in Dublin. Admittedly the location is fantastic but everything was a complete disappointment. In fact, if it werent for the celebrity ownership, I think it would have significantly less clout as a hotel. When arriving on a humid day, it was bothersome to learn that practically none of the rooms have air conditioning, including the one I was staying in. I check into the room to discover a 25 year old oscillating fan sitting on the nightstand attempting to cool down the room. The showerhead in the bathroom was broken and the rooms had virtually no style to them at all. Considering how plain the hotel is in general, it is a wonder why its considered "hip." The service however was excellent and the staff was very professional. Aside from the prime location, I cant think of any reason to stay at the Clarence.
