excellent!

after an overbooking sent to us to a substandard sister hotel for half our stay, the Pier 5 stepped up and made us very comfortable. it was safer, nicer, and overall a wonderful stay.

Slightly let down...

Not thrilled, to say the least. From what we saw online, the hotel looked very modern, updated, and definitely on the swanky side...and the nightly rate reflected those qualities. Considering that the other hotels owned by this group are pretty reputable, I thought it was a sure bet. However, it was just OK. Service was not fabulous. Elevator broken the entire two days we stayed. Room pretty clean looking. I will say that it was a great location, close to the Harbor, Fells, Power Plant, etc. and definitely seemed like a safe area. However, there are many, many more hotels that are close by where I am sure we could have gotten a better bang for our buck.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Shopping, Inner Harbor, Fell’s Point, good restaurants (both local and chain, ie Oceannaire, Roy’s). Good location for families or young adults, as the Aquarium is adjacent to the hotel and nightlife is right at your doorstep.

Some Improvement Needed

We enjoyed our stay. The only thing we didn’t like was that we had to pay for the kids to watch cartoons on TV. Pretty much everything was pay per view. With a hotel that nice, at least the local station and/or basic cable should be complimentary.
