Mixed feelings
The hotel room was very nice, except for the issues that we had with the heating system (it was 85 degrees in our room when we returned from the concert that we had attended) that they sent a maid up to take a look at and she said that she wasnt familiar with our thermostat. In their defense they did offer to move us to another room, but at this point it was midnight and we were able to open windows to help cool the room down, so we just dealt with it. The food at the on-site restaurant was excellent and the full breakfast that came with the room was very good as well.

Meeting the expectations for the price
The Hotel is ok, nothing fancy but solid quality. We preferred to take our breakfast elsewhere but there are enough good Breakfast serving facilities around.

Hotel was great!
We spent one night in Vancouver as an excursion by train from Seattle. The hotel was comfortable we had a jr, king suite on the 21st floor. We had a balcony with chairs and we view the city and the frequent weather changes. Great location!
Book ahead and check out your location in the city.

Average hotel at a good price and location
The hotel decor and facilities are on the older side. Our room was large and clean but it had a musty smell that never quite went away. The air-conditioning unit was loud and it was challenging to find the right setting. The kitchenette was convenient and nicely stocked. The room also had a comfortable work and seating area so you are not confined to the bed. The front desk staff was nice and accommodating. I didnt see any bellmen to help with the luggage but there are carts available to use. Elevator traffic can be hectic especially in the morning. The breakfast room was clean and could accommodate a good number of people. The food was good but nothing extraordinary. The attendants were cheerful and hard working but be careful not to leave your plate unattended because it will be gone in a flash. The laundry room facility was adequate. We did not use the swimming pool or exercise facilities but they seemed small but ok. I would like to note that Vancouver in general has many homeless people in the downtown area and at night you will see many around the hotel area trying to find shelter for the night. The hotel security was good. To access the elevator and facilities, a room key is needed. With the right deal, this hotel is worth staying in. The location is close to many attractions and transportation is easy to access. 2 Sightseeing tour companies stop in front of the hotel. If you are not an overly fussy person you could enjoy your stay at a good price.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The hop on & off sightseeing trolley was a great deal and made it easy to see the major attractions. I preferred it to the double decked buses. They even have a free trolley service that goes to the Capilano suspension bridge.

Comfortable, Clean, and Friendly
When I checked into Cascadia, the mini-frig was making a noise, so I couldnt sleep, the wash basin was cracked and the shower drained slow. I mentioned this to the Front Desk asking if I could unplug the mini-frig, so I could sleep the next night. When they came up to view the frig., I mentioned the other conditions of the room. The manager apologized and immediately offered to move me to another room. That is why this place gets 4-stars, plus the bed is comfortable, the breakfast buffet is a money saver, and the staff is great. This hotel is also walking distance to the downtown area.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If you are travelling with 1 piece of carry-on luggage, I suggest taking Canada Line from the airport. Its a direct trip to the Yaletown stop and 6 blocks to Cascadia. The train ride is only $3.75. A cab that would cost you $30-40. If you have tons of luggage, take a cab.

First Class
This hotel was a wonderfully surprise. It looked and was run like a first class hotel. We were allowed a very early check-in. The room was large, spacious and bright. The beds were comfortable and lush. The staff was very helpful. We definately would stay at Cascadia again
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The Trolley and the "Hop on Bus" stopped at the hotel. Also, there was plenty to do within walking distance.

Great hotel but the elevators need serious help
The rooms are large and clean and comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only downfall of the hotel is the elevators...waiting over 5 minutes was commonplace and by the time they arrive they are crammed full of guests and no one else can get on.

Good Place to Stay
A little above average hotel with-in walking distance to many attractions. Check-in was quick. The Staff was very pleasant, and they were all very helpful in pointing out directions to the attractions. The room was big and clean. There was a small kitchen there as well. Did notice the temperature control for the AC was a little sensitive. The view out the window overlooked a building under construction. That did not bother us, since we were out most of the day. By the way, you will notice a lot of road and building construction around Vancouver as they prepare for the Olympics in 2010. Overall, the Cascadia met our needs and we had a wonderful stay in Vancouver. We will definitely be back.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you go to Stanley Park, I highly recommend renting a bike and taking a ride around the park. It was an easy and beautiful ride.

Cascade Hotel Vanouver
Very nice hotel. Excellent location with the hop on, hop off trolley stopping right in front of the hotel. Excellent breakfast included in stay with waffles, eggs, bagels, fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee, juice, etc. The concierge there was very helpful and even referred us to a good authentic Dim Sum restaurant in Chinatown. Will definitely stay there again when in Vancouver.
We took the trolley to Stanley Park to the aquarium. Saw baby beluga whales that were just so cute! Then we rented bikes from right outside the park and biked the entire perimeter of the park. It was a great way to see the park in all its glory!

Big room
Cascadia offers big rooms with nice kitchenettes and decent beds. the staff is helpful and pleasent. Views are nice and the location is pretty good especially if Granville Island and Robson Street are places youre heading. It is a long way from the waterfront on Burrard Inlet or Gastown, however. We didnt find the breakfast to be quite as good as most reviewers -- typical buffet fare -- but a nice set up with table seating. Avoid Sunday morning -- extremely crowded.

Better then we ever imagined!
Clean, friendly, everyone was so helpful. Perfect location, easy to walk everywhere, and close to Sky Train and Seabus. When I asked my daughter how the trip was compared to what she thought it would be like, she said it was better then she ever imagined!

Excellent hotel
The hotel has a full kitchenette, so my leftovers from dining out didnt go to waste. The hotel had everything I needed and was within easy walking distance of many attractions in Vancouver. The shuttle ride from the airport was very pleasant as well.

Great downtown location
The Cascadia is located near downtown, so access to shopping and the art gallery are within walking distance. The only problem was that there is extensive construction going on in the city in preparation for the 2010 Olympics. We were staying in early July 2009, so I would imagine, itll be going on until Feb 10. A high rise was being built outside our 17th floor window and workers and cranes were literally right outside the window. Aside from that, what a great room! Full kitchenette w/ stove, oven, microwave, fridge & dishwasher! Queen bed with fold out sofa. Complimentary breakfast - full, not continental with great service. The concierge, King, was especially helpful in arranging a tour to Victoria for us. He did everything, and the tour bus picked us up at the lobby. We did have to pay for parking (our rental car), but in comparison to most other hotels, it was reasonable: $19/CAD per night in an underground garage. A wonderful place to stay....
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
If you have a rental car, there is so much which is within short driving distance: Stanley Park the Capilano Suspension, and further north, you reach Grouse Mountain where there are plenty of activities during the summer. We did their 5-line zip-lining which was exhilirating. If youre not up for that, they still have lots of other attractions at Grouse. During the winter, its a ski resort and I believe the zip-lining is still open, weather permitting.

Good Value for the Price!
Although the Cascadia isnt a posh hotel in a posh part of town, we would stay there again any time. Our king-size deluxe suite had everything we could have asked for. The mattress was SO comfortable! We were on the 17th floor facing west, and had a wonderful view of beautiful sunsets every night. Loved having free high-speed internet. Great breakfast buffet, which is well-maintained and serviced. Yummy bran muffins! (One suggestion - they shold provide trays to carry your food to your table all at once, rather than having to make several trips back and forth.) Front desk personnel always very courteous and obliging. Service in the restaurant off the lobby was VERY slow the one night we ate there, and the food wasnt exceptional. Limited menu. We chose the Cascadia on the basis of on-line reviews, and we were well-pleased.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Be sure to eat at Zefferellis Italian place on Robson(great food/service)! Like hot dogs? Walk left out of hotel about 1 1/2 blocks to the Milwaukee hot dog place. Check out the (mostly) underground mall on Robson & have coffee/snack at Tim Hortons (much better coffee/prices than Starbucks). Dont bother with dinner at Bacchus Ristorante at Wedgewood Hotel unless you enjoy paying a LOT of money for so-so food. Learn to take the bus; it really is easy and inexpensive.

Great hotel
I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The location is great, just off Davie street and the rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The kitchenettes in the rooms are very handy especially if you are staying longer. The kitchen is better equipt than my own kitchen at home :)! So, I would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly try to come back here.

Too noisy
I stayed in this hotel before and it was amazing. Unfortunately, the second time I was "on the wrong side": although I was at the 14th floor I could hear all the noise coming up from a night club down in the street, as the windows are not soundproof. And the morning after I woke up with the noise of the ongoing maintainace of a building beside the hotel.
Comment from the hotel's management
Posted: 25-Jun-09Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. We have been in discussions with the Club directly behind our Hotel about some of the noise issues and we feel like we are getting a handle on it. We have also been informed that the Club will be closing and moving in the next couple of weeks. We are also happy to report that the construction at the back of the Hotel is nearing an end and that this will no longer be a concern in the very near future. Thank you again for giving us this valuable feedback and if I could be of any assistance please contact me directly.
