Central to Everything in Copenhagen
After an easy trip from the airport via subway and a two block walk to the hotel we arrived in time for a great buffet breakfast and stored our bags until our check in later in the afternoon. We were able to walk to everything from the hotel except the Opera House for which we used the ferry at the entrance to the nearby Nyhavn Canal to see a performance by the Royal Danish Ballet. Rooms are small and a little worn, but clean and comfortable. During the reservation process we upgraded to avoid the cheapest double with a narrower bed. Even though breakfast was about $20 each per day, we thought the selection and value worth the price to start each day of our trip. The receptionist(s) assisted us with numerous requests for information, car rental, dinner reservations, etc. On my second trip to Copenhagen I will definitely stay at the Hotel Opera again.
Non stop SAS service from Washington, DC and then use the subway into the city center. You will need a PIN for credit card transactions in Denmark.

good way to start a day in Copenhagen
The Opera is loacated in a fantastic area where local attractions are within easy walking distance. The breakfast bar is good for the price. Overall its a good hotel for anyone to start their day in Copenhagen.
Climbing up to the top of the Round Tower is totally worthy of the entry price. The view was fabulous and you may also see a nice exhibit at a gallery middle way up to the top.

It was fine - but its not a 3 star
We were at Hotel Opera for 2 nights in early September 2009. The hotel is clean and functional but does not meet the 3 star criteria listed in the Expedia review. Whats good about it -- close to EVERYTHING. Its right next to the opera house, very close to Nyhavn, walking distance to everything in central Copenhagen, Kongens Nytorv metro station is right there. Staff at hotel friendly and helpful. Rooms themselves were small, furniture a little old, bed very comfortable. For the typical USA traveler, think Holiday Inn level accomodations ... if the Holiday Inn has a few years of use behind it. It was clean and functional, but dont expect a 3 star experience.
