Sleepless in Orangeburg
As for the city and the hotel, they were mainly clean and free from litter and such. The overall cleanliness of the room was excellent, but the comfort of the room was completely different. The air conditioner was poorly working, and with the combination of a rather warm April afternoon and a recovering sick mother, the room was stifling and extremely uncomfortable. Since there were no other rooms available to change, we could not move. However, since the room of a third person of our party was hot as well, we surmised that most of the rooms on the 2nd floor were hot. I expect to be comfortable when I travel for business, and since there was little comfort that night, I will never choose that particular hotel again, even though I might give the hotel chain a second chance in another city.
