Clean, quiet, comfortable

We were worried when we saw the 2 star rating, but we were pleasently surprised by the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel. It was a drive away from the Metro, but it wasn’t a problem...fee parking on Sundays. Weekdays might be tricky. We would definately stay here again.

Little Things

Overall, this hotel is a fine place to stay for a budget cost. It’s easy to find, close to highways, close to DC, walking distance from good food. The only complaint we had was that the little things were inconsistent. My room had shampoo & small fridge but no coffee or cups. My friends’ room had coffee but no fridge. Staff was very helpful though when we asked for missing items.

Not impressed but alright

We were looking for a decent place to sleep during our overnight stay in DC. This hotel had decent and clean rooms, however the desk staff seemed not overly motivated and the complimentary continental breakfast was very basic and the only place to sit down and eat was in our room. Considering those facts the room rate seemed a little overpriced.

overall, the hotel was nice. I got a smoking room although i think that i requested a non-smoking room... i didn’t find any hotel in washington D.C in a reasonable price so i took one in Arlington. I had to took a bus from the hotel to the Subway and from there, to the city. the hotel itself is quite good and my only problem was that i found a cigarette lying on my floor in my roo (and i don’t smoke...).

you can either take a bus from the other side of the road to the train station or take a cab for 8$ approx...

Good; we’d go back.

A little small, but very clean room. No noise to bother your rest. Decent bed and pillows. As a plus, the room had a mini fridge and a microwave oven. Room didn’t have a hair dryer, but they loaned us one in reception. Staff was friendly and helpful. Coffee, bagels and cream cheese as a courtesy in the morning.

Good deal only if .....

If you have a car and internet is optional, this hotel is well located for driving to DC,Arlington, and National Airport. The nearest Orange Line Metro would be a hike at best, but an easy drive to the Ballston Mall parking garage and station down the block. The rooms are small and basic; the location a nice neighborhood; food stores nearby. Internet was close to useless. For the location, the price was outstanding. Certainly a way to cut costs, but if on business and need internet, avoid.

Not what I expected

I read earlier reviews from 2007 and was truly terrified of the hotel i was going to stay in. It was too late to readjust my itinerary so I decided I had to make the best of it. Other reviews complained of dirtiness and theft, but I was greeted by really great staff and a beautiful room. it was right next to food and stores so I was able to get food immediately. Nonetheless, i would definitely stay at the Inns of Virginia on my next trip to Washington.

Clean but small

We used the room just for sleeping. Beds were comfortable and air conditioning worked. We left to sight see in the am and would return in the evening. Felt safe in the neighborhood but there was really nothing near the hotel for food or entertainment. Bus stop was across the street and got us to the train system for DC.

Not impressed

This was the only hotel in the area that had availability for the two nights that I needed. So despite the 2-star rating I stayed there. It was clean, but not comfortable (the tv was broken and no amenities at all). The area around it was sketchy. It all gave me an uneasy feeling. I would not stay there again. I’d rather drive a distance than stay closer if this was the only hotel in the close proximity.

Not a 2-star hotel

"Breakfast" was meager compared to other hotels supposedly in this class. Internet service was frustrating -- a strong signal but connection speeds slower than dial-up. My room was non-smoking but reeked of smoke. The hotel did appear to be in a safe area and it wasn’t dirty, and the location is decent...a short drive to places of business/interest.

Very nice.Just right for us!

WE were going to D.C. on vacation and were unaccustomed to city transportation. The hotel staff helped us with the Metro bus and subway system.The convenient bus stop and close subway system made our commuit to the city a breeze. The very steep driveway to the street is a challenge for bad knees and there is no poolto relax in at the day,but that was okay for us.We were too tired anyway The room and bath were always fresh and clean when we returned from sightseeing and we were never awakened in the evening. Yes we would go bak as soon as we are able.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Take advantage of the metro system and get both bus and subway passes. They can be purchased online and the bus stops are less tha an eighth of a block away.You can transfer to the arlington subway and never have to move your car.That’a a hugh plus in D.C.

Not impressed

Rated a three star inn, was of a lower quality than many Motel 6 inns I have visited. Poorly maintained, difficult access and lacking in amenities. Limited dining nearby; fast food Chinese, pizza, or gas station food mart only choices within easy walking distance.

Great hotel for a short overnight stop.

The room was comfortable but the breakfast was lacking (just some bagels and cereal and OJ). The staff was very accomodating and friendly. I’d recommend this hotel for a business stay but there are better places for a leisure trip to the D.C. area (even if they are a little more expensive). Conveniently, there is a grocery store and coffee shop a few blocks away as well.

Excellent value hotel

The Inn is clearly a budget hotel but it is well-cared for. The place was spotless and quiet. Front desk folks were friendly and helpful.

Good Bargain near DC

My only complaint is that the comode did not have a lid. Room was small but very clean and comfortable. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom but one can be borrowed from reception. Good for two people or a couple. Can’t beat the rates only 5 miles from Reagan National.

Reasonably priced, clean, away from Metro

This was a great place to stay in Arlington to save money -- clean and comfortable rooms in a motel-style building. Only disadvantage is that it is more than a mile from any Metro stop (closest is probably Rosslyn). But with good weather, it’s a pleasant 1.5 mile walk into downtown, past residential neighborhoods with colonial architecture. Area felt safe.

Yoga studio with lots of classes you can drop in for -- just go a few blocks west on Lee Highway.

Not worth the price

I have stayed here in the past, but at a much lower rate. The hotel has been rennovated, but there isn’t much that can be done about the size of the rooms (small). I’m sure one can do better at their current price. I’m not likely to stay here again.

It serves its purpose

needed a place to stay while visiting a college. Nothing fancy but close enough to DC without the traffic. Close to the subway and bus routes. Not a hotel to spend a vacation in, but it seves its purpose for a quick stay.
