Great hotel, not so great location
This is a beautiful hotel, great service, very clean, and is on the Riverwalk. However we found it was about 5 blocks away from all the activity. We will probably stay at another hotel next time we are in San Antonio, only due to location.
Dont rent a car. You can buy a Streetcar / bus 24 hour pass for a few dollars that will give you access anywhere you want to go.

Horrible Customer Service
We are not strangers to Starwood Hotels and were looking forward to a weekend getaway in San Antonio. I had called ahead and requested a crib for my baby and noted it on my Expedia reservation. When we arrived, there was no crib. Also, we had to pay $30 for parking--not something that was mentioned previously. We asked 3 times for a crib during the course of the day. With a screaming baby, we called one more time. Someone finally brought the crib up. We then asked for a manager to speak with, called the number they provided, and he has yet to return our call. What horrible customer service!

Great location
The Westin Riverwalk is a beautiful Hotel. It is in a great location for walking along the riverwalk or for walking on the street level to the Alamo or other tourist spots.

RIVERWALK WESTIN
THIS IS A 5 STAR HOTEL. EXCELLENT. I DIDNT EXPECT TO FIND BOOKING AT SUCH AN UPSCALE HOTEL FOR THE PRICE THROUGH A BOOKING AGENCY. WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR TRIP AND STAY. EVERYBODY AT THE HOTEL WAS COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY. PEOPLE IN SAN ANTONIO ARE FRIENDLY. THE ALAMO, THE CARRIAGE RIDES, AND THE RIVERWALK ARE NOT TO BE MISSED. IF YOU CAN TAKE THE TOUR OF THE OLD MISSIONS. THEY ARE AWESOME!

Great location...
Was expecting a bigger room but didnt spend to much time in the room anyways. Location was perfect, on the riverwalk and only a few blocks away from the market. Great front desk service and met most expectations. Parking was a drag (located accross street if you dont want valet). Great time.
Not necessarily a hotel for families but it didnt matter...service was good and the goal is to get out and see san antonio.

San Antonios Best!
The Westin Riverwalk was wonderful!! We had an early flight and arrived early, we were unsure if we could check in, but they let us check in early with no problem and got us to our room! That was awesome! Our room was on the riverwalk with a balcony. We could not see the riverwalk without walking onto the balcony but that was great, because most hotels along the riverwalk do not have balconies. They just have windows to view not actually walk out. The beds were heavenly for sure! The room was clean and the bathroom amenities were grand as well. The hotel also offered movies which were still in the theaters which was a nice perk. There was no refrigerator, but there was an ice bucket and cups for fresh ice. The front desk was wonderful; the concierge services were very helpful. Everyone was very pleasant and top notch friendliness. The restaurant was a little pricey, but very delicious. The waiters and waitresses were great as well. Our wake-up calls arrived on time. We requested extra pillows and they came with no problem and in a timely manner as well. There was no free internet in the rooms, you had to go downstairs in the lobby for free Wi-Fi, but we were on vacation and it was only a mere inconvenience. The location was also very wonderful. Walking distance to everything with no problem. I cannot begin to say enough good things about our stay at the Westin Riverwalk. I will defiantly recommend this to anyone going to San Antonio and we would love to return here!
Traveler's tip
The SaltGrass Restaurant is wonderful! Howl at the Moon is some good fun for adults of all ages! The concierge services will definatly make sure you have something to do and at a good price!

Nice Hotel but would not go back
The Hotel was very nice and the people accommodating but the prices for food, beverages, business services, etc. were expensive. Almost everything was an extra cost. You received packets of starbucks coffee to brew in your room but if you wanted additional packets you were charged for them. In terms of room quality and amenities, the room was beautiful and the beds very comfortable but our shower tub didnt drain well so when you showered you stood in water (that may have just been a fluke but I expected better for a Westin). We also didnt have a refrigerator of any kind to store creamer for coffee or drinks so we purchased an inexpensive cooler while we were there to keep in our room. The alternative was to order creamer or milk each morning for our coffee at $4 a glass plus a minimum $4 service fee plus an 18% tax plus whatever tip you felt generous enough to include at that point. We ordered a piece of chocolate cake, a scoop of ice cream, and two glasses of milk the first evening and ended up paying $55 once everything was included. We have two young boys and they wanted dessert every night so we started walking to other places within the area for that. Hotel pros: Good location, beautiful pool and fitness facility, nice people, good service Hotel cons: Many additional costs, not very accommodating to younger children. Overall, the hotel was very nice inside and probably more suited for adults than it was for our family. We enjoyed our stay but would not go back.
If you stay downtown, drive out of downtown to one of the local grocery stores and purchase an inexpensive cooler to keep drinks and snack foods in. That way you can enjoy the downtown experience without feeling like yo have to eat out every meal.

Not impressed
Too bad for as expensive as the Hotel was they couldnt provide free internet and maybe a free donut in the morning. Even Holiday Inn does that! I expected at least the same service as a mid level hotel. But the beds were very nice and the location was good. Not family friendly in general, however.
I wouldnt advise families to stay at this Hotel. Too expensive, no amenities for families.

Lovely view on Riverwalk
We found the bedding to be lacking for a quality hotel. I like a mattress pad and fitted sheet, not a pad that fits part of the bed and no fitted sheet. We didnt sleep very well. The view and food were great along with a gracious staff.

Expected More For the Money
First of all the Service given by the front desk is less than satisfactory. They are rude! I booked early and paid for a riverview room, and at first they gave me a room facing the street. Then I called and told them and they had me on hold for about 15 minutes and finally gave me a new room....which of course was more street than river. Finally they gave me a third room which was on the river, so they did fix this problem but the whole thing was just frustrating. Valet is $30.00 which is mentioned on expedia I purchased it but didnt use it because we never had to drive anywhere. Overall the room was o.k. I must admit I stayed at two other hotel rooms that weekend that were less expensive and went above and beyond my expectations.

Hotel better then I thought.
This is one of the better hotels on the Riverwalk. Quit area overlooking the river, close to everthing. Bad thing is no smoking on outside patio. My companions had to to go to next hotel for drinks and smoke outside. Breakfast is fine, other then that meals are poor. I do not like Italian food! Little Rine steak house is two and a half blocks up the river for the BEST STEAKS in TEXAS! I am from Chicago and they beat Chicago! There are more bums on the streets and Riverwlak then 15 years ago. The city needs to do something about that sore spot. The crime sihigher with the New orleans people they sayandmake the city look dirty!

Great Hotel
This hotel is great, the room was clean. The only complaint I have is the room was far from the elevator and, being the analytical person I am, I was a little concerned about if there was a fire. We were on te 14th floor so it made me a little nervous.

If you have an opportunity to go to Joes Crab Shack, DO!!! It was great, the only thing was the wait was a long (40 min)but sooooo worth it.

Westin Riverwalk
The hotel is located beautifully, is well maintained, and the food service is excellent. The Front End staff, however, need to go back to school on customer service. Waited 5+ minutes to check in, had a minor problem the management took care of early on, but the bill did not reflect the refund. Check out the clerk at the front desk was arrogant to a fairtheewell. Will never go back.

Expected a little more for my money
This is a beautiful hotel and the service when I walked in was great. What surprised me was the actual maid service. Old bar of soap in the shower, no new soap (lucky I brought my own). A cart full of dirty dishes left in the hall way almost all weekend, a hallway full of paper bills sitting outside the doors in the morning. A little disapointed.

Great Hotel
This is a great hotel right in the middle of all of the Riverwalk action. Its close to the Alamo, the Rivercenter Mall, restaurants, etc.

Fantastic!
My husband and I celebrated our 38th Wedding Anniversary. The hotel and the service was faboulous. We felt like millionaires. A great place to relax after a long day of touring and of course, shopping.

Bad Service
We staid for three nigths during a weekend, rigth after the first night when we back to the room we noticed they didnt clean the room, and we call the manager and never return the call we were out of toilet paper and we had to call a cople of times, very expensive for the kind of service; it was a mess I personally never go back.

Will stay somewhere else next trip
My daughter wanted to stay at the Westin because of the pictures (pool)from the web, the price was good and a good location, but it started off bad and didnt get better. The room wasnt ready at check-in, so the desk took my number to call when it was ready only he wrote my number wrong. I went back to check on it and found out it was ready (we had no where to go). That night we called for a roll away bed and were told it would be right up- it never came (we fell asleep from the long day of travel). The next day I asked for a phone charger and was told they would bring it up, this time I called down after an hour. Again, I was told they would bring it up, it never made it to my room. The 3rd night I asked the concierge about a restaurant which needed reservations for the next night, he said he would make the reservations and call me with the time in my room. Again, no call. We went to eat and asked on the way out where the concierge was- he had left for the evening. The desk person called the restaurant to find out what time my reservations were and was told they hadnt even been made! When we checked out I asked about the valet parking and was told it was taking care of with my expedia bill and I didnt owe anything. I received my credit card bill and have a charge from the hotel now. The room was clean and roomy. The valet was frienly and it didnt take long to get our truck when we needed to go somewhere.

Great Hotel
This hotel was great. Comfortable. clean, quite. Parking was a bit of an issue, but we know it was because we were in the heart of the riverwalk. We will be back!!!

A Great Hotel, close to Fort Sam Houston.
This hotel was wonderful! The staff was very professional and extremely friendly and willing to help out with activities while we were there. The pool was a nice size and clean with always a large amount of towels handy. It was within walking distance to everything we wanted to do. Cab service to the miliarty base was easy and friendly.
