Mountain Lodge

Mountain Lodge was very nice. We had a 2 bedroom condo that was on the smaller size but well laid out, furnished and very comfortable. Maid service was great - they cleaned all our breakfast dishes and pans. The location was great - a 5 minute walk to the gondola. Nice pool and hottub with views of the mountains. I would recommend it.

Hopefully will return this winter

We were pleasantly surpised at the quality and cleanliness our room was in.

Traveler's tip

The free gondola is a great way to travel to and from the town of Telluride and the Lodge. Works great if you want to go out to the bars and not have to worry about driving.

Great place in Telluride

We have stayed at the Mountain Lodge in Telluride for many years now. It is a very low key but incredibly comfortable facility. We have had every type of room but now routinely get a two bedroom condo which has everything a family could need on vacation. It is large, comfortable, has a great kitchen and the facilities are good. The fitness room has a few treadmills (although why you would want to exercise inside while in Telluride is beyond me) but now has a variety of dumb bells as well. The hotel is a short walk from the Gondola station and from a grocery store. Overall, it is a great place and the staff has always been very accommodating and friendly. We will continue to return to the Mountain Lodge.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Be sure to check out the Town Park. It is a fantastic facility and the campground can’t be beat if you want to extend your stay on the cheap. Also, the library is wonderful!

Very nice accomidations

This is a very nice hotel. We had a junior suite and really enjoyed the space. Nice kitchenette and living area. The fireplace was soothing and warming as well. This was our second time at this hotel and we will return again. The views are tremendous. Only thing negative was the parking.

Beautiful Setting, Too Pricey

The hotel is in a beautiful mountainside setting. Our room was VERY tiny. Closet size. No room to unpack and move around. Very clean. Hotel staff helpful. WAY over priced for the room we were given. We would not revisit this property.

Find a more affordable hotel unless you have lots of money.

GREAT location in Mountain Village!

We were hesitant to stay here after some of the negative reviews, but we had a great stay and were happily surprised with how close to the gondola we were. We rode the Gondola every day into Telluride and never got tired of it (it was a quick 13 minute ride and gave us great views of the town both at night and during the day). We were here in the fall, but we’re already thinking about when we can make it back for a winter trip!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Many of the side streets off of Colorado (Main St.) are free to park on.

Convenient - fair price - good sized room

I used the hotel for the Telluride film festival over the labor day weekend. It had the most reasonable prices I saw at the time I was booking. Just be aware that it’s at the top of Mountain Village and you need to take a gondola (5 min walk or less) into the core of Mountain Village - and then another into Telluride. But for me it wasn’t a problem (maybe adds 12 minutes or so). The unit I had included a small but complete kitchen with pretty high end appliances. There’s a grocery near by as well. Also - be aware that while their listing says the gondola area has free parking it’s time limited (1hr) so you’ll likely end up paying more for parking at the hotel. Overall seemed very reasonable for the price.

Mountain Lodge always treats us well.

We have visited Telluride and have stayed at this lodge in both the winter and summer seasons. Both of our stays have been very nice. The staff is always helpful and polite to us. Front desk is responsive as well as the valet service. The lodge is in the Mountain Village and the property is adjacent to the free gondola. The next time we come and stay in Telluride we will be sure to stay here.

Traveler's tip on dining

All the decent restaurants and bars are in the city. Take the gondola down into Telluride, eat, drink and be merry, and ride it back to your hotel in the Mountain Village. Make sure you do so before midnight or the gondola turns into a pumpkin.

Mountain Lodge Telluride

We visited in early September. Location is excellent and convenient, accomodations are top notch, staff is wonderfully customer oriented, view is great. Can’t say enough about the staff as they’re absolutely great. We couldn’t have asked for more. We will definitely stay there again. It’s very convenient being only a five minute walk to catch the free gondola for Mountain Village central, then on to Telluride. They will valet your car to your door and park your car anytime for $20/night, same charge as the public garage at the gondola station but much more convenient. Just call them and they park your car outside your condo, likewise call them to park it from there after unloading. The rooms are very nice complete with balconies. We stayed first four days in a deluxe 2-BR unit with full kitchen, very spacious with 2 baths, huge living area, and 2 balconies. Then we stayed four days in a 1-BR unit with full kitchen, smaller but more than adequate also with a balcony and great view. We highly recommend it, and the prices are very competitive.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Great hikes 6 miles to 14 miles - Sneffels Highline, Silver Lake, Wilson Meadows, Lizard Head, Hope Lake, Wilson Peak. Ames Power Station the first A/C power generation station in the world 1891 by Tesla & Westinghouse powering mines. HWY 145 south, then right on South Fork Rd. opposite the Ophir Post Office sign on left. Drive about 1/4 mile then hard left and you’ll see a green roofed building at bottom of valley.

Beautiful but a few surprises.

The hotel is beautiful. The area is beautiful. LOVE the deep tubs!! However, I was very surprised about the $20/night parking fee which was not listed when I booked the room. I called the hotel and asked what time the Gondola started running and was told 5am (I had to get into Telluride by 5:30am). It didn’t actually start until 7:30

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Beautiful place to hike from. There are plenty of trails leading straight out of the hotel. It turned out to be a little far, though, for the Imogene Pass Run. We drove more than we expected to.

Best value for the money

We got a wonderful rate for this hotel so I wasn’t sure how nice it would be. It totally exceeded our expectations in everyway and they even gave us a complimentary upgrade from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, which was fabulous. We would definitely stay there again.

Traveler's tip on dining

The restaurants close by 9:00 p.m. so finding a late night meal is difficult.

Noisy

I liked the hotel, pool, hot tub, views...but I will not stay there again or recommend it to others for the one fact that there is no sound insulation between rooms. Very noisy. Also, if your room key gets near your cell phone in your pocket...it erases the code, not handy.

Want to come back again

The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, and had very nice view. The staffs were friendly and informative. In addition, the lodge locates very close to the gondola station and supermarket. We were fully satisfied with staying at this lodge.

Was it for business or leisure? We couldn’t tell!

This was an amazing place to stay in Telluride (Mountain Village). I will say that we had a horrible stay the night before at another property...but the moment I checked in, the front desk staff was extremely attentive and wonderful. We were there on business, however it surely didn’t feel like it when we were on property. It is conveniently located in Mountain Village near the gondola and market. I can’t say enough about this property! There are quite a few places to stay in the area, however, as far as I’m concerned if you want 5 star service (including 5 star amenities) with the feel of a mountain lodge, this is the place for you.

Traveler's tip

You have to catch the sunrise!

Mixed feelings, not bad IF you can get a good price on a bigger room

The first surprize is the hotel description does not tell you will have to pay for the parking - extra $20/day. That said, using the free gondolla to get around compensates for that. The unit with a kitchenette is small by today’s standards - I can’t imagine staying in their smaller, ’hotel’ size room. The ’pool’ is really a bigger tub (pictures make it look bigger). We liked the bedding, though the bed was a bit ’soft’ for our taste. Bathroom is very small, I could not even try the built in jets - no way I would fit into the tub. If you are lucky and get a room with a view, views are spectacular - but if you have the road-view unit, you may see only (other) people cars - don’t plan on staying indoors! The staff was pleasant and very helpfull.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Summer Telluride can be a day hiker’s paradise. Especially mid-summer, with flowers in full bloom - unless you hit a monsoon season. But the entire Telluride area is overprized. If you can get a good deal, go grab it, otherwise look elsewhere or try camping.

A great getaway

This is a nice hotel, reasonably priced during a summer 2-night stay. Clean, spacious and conveniently located near the free gondola that takes you to the town of Telluride. Two disappointments we encountered: Parking - they have 150+ units and only 55 parking spaces. For $20/night they will valet or let you park within the complex (assuming not all spaces are taken) which they were when we arrived. So, we had to park near the gondola in a city parking structure for $20/night and walk 5 min back to the complex. Second disppointment was that this hotel allows pets. Both nights we woke to a dog barking. Other than that, great place to stay and we’ll return someday.

Nice Spot, but summer service not as nice

If you are staying in the less expensive rooms, there is only a queen size bed and no chairs at all. In the building we were in, there was a centralized closet to store your skis, but no ice machine. We wanted to stop at the hotel restaurant/bar to have some breakfast, but they were out of almost everything but coffee (which was actually very good). Since they make the coffee one customer at a time, the woman behind the bar was too busy to get my bagel (only thing they hadn’t run out of) and then once she toasted it, she didn’t get it to me until it was no longer warm. I decided to have peanut butter crackers for breakfast the next day rather that deal with all that. Many of the stores and restaurants in mountain village are closed in the summer so you must go over the hill to Telluride center for most things. The gondola ride is free, but it takes some time to get there. Oh, and yes, there is a $20/day parking fee at this hotel. I felt like we were at a place designed for skiers, and I am not one. Also prices for food in this area were sky high. The hotel restaurant food wasn’t bad, but the prices there were even higher. I am not that athletic so the thin air and hills were a real challenge. Beautiful mountains for sure, otherwise, not my favorite. Wish we had only scheduled one night instead of three. We walked away from our prepaid last night and moved on to Mesa Verde area. This was a good move--and at least we didn’t have to pay the last day of parking!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Before you book in the summer season, be sure to plan your activities. This is a ski town trying to expand to year round and you may not find as many suitable activities as you might wish. The thin air can be a challenge too. We checked out early and moved on.

Nice and relaxing

Hotel staff was nice and courteous. Rooms were great....bathroom is small, but after all, it’s only a bathroom! The location with regard to the Gondola is wonderful. We parked our car (parking is expensive) and only went back to it when we decided to go for a drive and when we left. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lacks many details. Would not recommend.

On reserving a room there was no mention of a daily parking fee. There is no ice available in the rooms. No room service available. A coffee maker in the room but no coffee. No chair or table in the room. Excellent queen bed. Shuttle service excellent.

Dog friendly

We picked this hotel mainly because they accept dogs and the location. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff was accomodating and friendly. Our room had a small patio that opened onto a semi-enclosed grassy area that was very convenient for letting the dogs out. We love Telluride and so do our dogs!
