Halloween 2009
The Royal Sonesta is located right in the heart of the French Quarter. It appears to take up a whole city block with one side directly on Bourbon St. We were there for Halloween 2009 and the Saints/Falcons game on that following Monday. We very much enjoyed being right in the hustle and bustle of those two events. The hotel was clean, comfortable and safe. We can highly recommend it.

Rowal Sonesta - Luxury on Bourbon Street
From parking the car to check out, everyone at the Royal Sonesta treats you like royalty. The beds are so comfortable with big fluffy towels and big fluffy bathrobes to to put on after your bath in the spa tub. We stayed on the concierge level which I recommend. They have a full free breakfast in the morning and drinks and hors douvres in the evening. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the Charleston Avenue streetcar which we rode to Audobon park to the zoo after which it was another easy walk to the boutique shopping on Magazine Street. Of course, everything is easy walking within the French Quarter, but walking out the Royal Sonesta you go from quiet beauty right into the middle of the craziness of Bourbon Street. We had a great time. Its pricey but worth it.
Dont go during Mardi Gras. Way too crowded. Dont go during July or August (too hot and the city literally smells like garbage) Best to go October through April.
