Hollywood’s Best

Perfect location, great hotel. Very loungy and cool. Food was great, but a little expensive. Will stay there every time we travel to LA.

Roosevelt is the Roosevelt!

The historic and architectural splendor is what brought us here. The lobby and public areas are great, as well, the ability to stroll around old Hollywood. Walking distance to Musso aand Franks, Grauman’s and theatre was key. The pool of course is it’s own scene and was certainly amusing, and there may even be swimming! All in all, a positive experience!

Enjoyable, but a little run down

This hotel was worth the money if you compare the prices in the area. The staff was friendly. I was there when it was a busy night, but the staff was still courteous. I don’t think my phone in my room worked well - I tried calling the front desk and it got disconnected a couple times. I didn’t get my wake up call that I had finally gone to the front desk to schedule. Along with that, after I left they charged me for something from the "mini bar" (a just a liquor stash on the table) that I did not have. And now I am getting the run around from the staff about that. I was not able to take advantage of the pool because sunny CA was pouring. The area is full of famous places and there is a lot of history with the hotel as well. The steakhouse and 24 degrees both had excellent food.

Trendy and cool. Perfect location. Great rooms.

We stopped by while touring around Hollywood Bld one night and liked the lungy atmosphere of the bar in the lobby. After a few drinks, we decided to stay overnight and checked in. Rooms were great with view on the Hollywood sign on Hollywood hills. Only two complaints: Only one elevator was working so there was a bit of a wait to get to our rooms or downstairs. Also, the fan in the smoking rooms are set to constantly run and are a little too noisy. It didn’t bother me that night though. Also, check the awesome pool!

Great Value through Expedia!

Very nice hotel, small regular rooms but have to expect that, and the staff went out of there way to make sure I was accomodated. Will stay here again...

Great hotel!

Perfect for those that want to be real close to the Hollywood action!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Walk across the street and visit that big shopping center, you can see the Hollywood sign from there.

Not impressed with rooms but...

Enjoyed our stay but probably won’t go back. The staff was wonderful however the 1st room we checked in to was only big enough for the bed and a small chest with a small TV on top & the bathroom was the tiniest one I’ve ever seen! Changed rooms (for an additional charge) and had a little more space but room was not very clean, looked worn. The public areas and restaurants are beautiful, again-great staff and of course the location make this a nice place to visit...once.

Roosevelt Hotel...NOT worth the stay

I initially booked the room for my 30th birthday...big mistake, I should have stayed elsewhere. Upon check-in, the front desk informed us that the Studio Suite room we reserved with 2 double beds was unavailable even though I had confirmed that it would be. Because of this we were DOWNGRADED to a regular room with 2 beds...I’ve never heard of such a thing! In a normal situation a person would recieve an upgrade but not at the Roosevelt. The front desk staff were condescending, at least the 2 I had to deal with. There are two elevators likely built in 1905 they’re so slow, but one was broken so only one was in service and it was a huge effort to get up and down from the room. The room was very unimpressive, it was old and in serious need of a makeover. The IPOD dock didn’t work so we had to call engineering to repair it. The bathroom is literally the size of a closet with no vanity area so getting ready was difficult. There wasn’t any place to put toiletries either. I was double charged for parking so I had to call and get that taken care of. Nightmare of a hotel experience. The only good thing about this hotel is the pool but there are lots of great hotels in the area with awesome pools so I’LL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

-The biggest tip I can give someone is to NOT stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt! Stay at the Hollywood Standard, they are friendly there, the rooms are modern and chic, and the cost is less than the Roosevelt.

Never ever go to this hotel

Apart from the location, there is nothing that I’d recommend about this hotel. Even though I paid extra for a room upgrade, it was a joke. Worn, ugly, poorly lit, dirty and noisy. Avoid.

Double Charged me

I had a trip I purchased at a charity auction which included a Saturday and Sunday night stay. I purchased through Expedia a Cabana room for Friday night. Upon check in I was offered to upgrade to a Cabana room for my Saturday and Sunday night for which I accepted. Upon checking my receipt when I got home I was charged for the night I prepaid through Expedia and also charged for the Cabana upgrade room I also had already paid for through Expedia. I have called the hotel several times and get transferred to accounting were no one answers the phone. I will probably have to dispute these chargs through my credit card company as the Hotel is no responsive.

Perfect

The Roosevelt was perfect for our needs. We needed a hotel near the Hollywood Bowl and this hotel, which has great character, was within walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the pool bar was very crowded but we went to lobby and had a few drinks to relax, very comfortable. I would stay there again and recommend this hotel.

Not impressed

I will not be going back to this hotel. They care more about being a night club then they do a hotel. I stayed in one of their cabana rooms which has a balcony overlooking the pool. The clerk at the desk said they were very nice but failed to mention that the whole pool area turns into a club and by 12:00 am the music and talking were so loud that there was no way to sleep. This area of the hotel isn’t that nice either. The halls are all black and it is like walking in a cave. The room was nice but just black and white inside and wasn’t that comfortable. The hotel security was very rude with us having to wait in a line to show are ID just to get to our room as it is the line to also get into the club. They made us open our bags to make sure we didn’t have alcohol, which we didn’t have. My girlfriend and I are in our late 20’s and love to go out but when you can’t sleep and have to get seached by rude employees just to go to your room, I have a problem with that. When I called down to the desk at 12:00 am they did move us to a junior suite which was very nice. I wish they worried more about the hotel guests and the ones that are actually staying in the hotel and less about their club.

Very Small and over priced

The room was surprisingly small especially the bathroom. The toilet was right against the wall and you could hardly sit on it. The shower enclosure was some strange 1/2 glass that made it impossible to not flood the bathroom when you showered. The staff was not very helpful and acted as though they were better than the guest. I would not stay here again.

Beautiful place

I had a great time all expections were met, except for the fact that the housekeeping people hung two dress shirts which were very expensive in closet, which I was unaware of. I realized that I didn’t have the shirts an hour away after checking out. I called to report they said they would get back to me, they never did. When I called again they said they would check after housekeeping had cleaned the room and give me a call, they never did. So Im out $300 for the shirts and they still haven’t found them. Dissapointed I am.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

A great location and the hotel has its own Nightlife which isn’t half bad. Easy to get to other classy venues from the area.

Great Location for sites in Hollywood!

This hotel is located in the heart of Hollywood, across the street from Walk of Fame and just across the street you can look into the hills and see the Hollywood sign!....Great outdoor mall just a few blocks down on the corner..with lots of great food places, not to mention the very notiable food plaves in the Roosevelt which I am sorry to say I didnt try!

Traveler's tip on dining

If you dont eat at the Roosevelt which even the people that live in Hollywood recommend...there are many great places to eat at Hollywood & Highland outdoor shopping mall...My favorite UWink...you order your food from computers at your table...very neat and a great way to make sure you get things done the way you want them

young and super hip

Okay so like everyone else I went to LA to see some celebs and we totally did! It just so happened that there was a movie premiere the night we were there and the after party was at the Roosevelt! The hotel was great, the staff was awesome and the tropicana bar was fun and tres chic! If you are young and looking for a fun celebrity filled vacation stay at the Roosevelt.

I Do Not Recommend!!

I stayed at the Roosevelt for 2 nights, but being airline crew and having stayed at many hotels for work, my experience was appalling!! The rooms have obviously been renovated but not well, and they are in dire need of maintenance. Cleanliness of the room was fine but overall the rooms need a makeover. My boyfriend and I had a sleepless night on the first night, as the A/C was so loud. There was definitely a fault and it didnt improve after a guy from maintenance came and supposedly fixed it. We managed to change rooms to a bigger room with corner views which was much nice but the furniture still looked like it had fallen off the back of a truck, chipped etc! I would only recommend this hotel for the location and the pool area, which during the day/night is a happening place.

Use to be better

I have been staying at the Roosevelt hotel for a few years now but this year its the worst. The first room they had me in had stains on the floor and smelled really bad. It was from the chemicals they used to get rid of the crazy stains. When I asked to be moved, they upgraded my room, or so I was told. It was about the same size with a worse view of my smaller room. They increase all the prices of everything in the room including the coffee. It was always free before and now you have to pay like $4. You can order it downstairs for $2. Its sad to see how bad the rooms have gotten and the services is just bad now. Too bad. At these prices, I was expecting a lot more.

Just what I was looking for

My only huge criticism is that while there is a coffee maker in the room, you have to PAY for the coffee. I find that to be ridiculous. . .even the "lower end" hotels and motels across the country give you courtesy coffee. That alone was almost enough to lower all of my ratings above. Thanks.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you rent a car, there tends to be plenty of street parking on weeknights.

Location, location, location

Fantastic location. Hollywood walk of fame, Kodak Theatre, Chinese Theatre, all within steps of the hotel. Hotel is not as modern as expected but has that old Hollwood charm. Would definately stay again.

Never again

The bell services was the only thing I liked about this hotel. They were helpful, friendly and prompt. The staff working check in and concierge were very cold and seem off put when they were assiting us. The bartender took forever to get our drinks. When we first approached him he wasn’t even serving other people he was having a conversation with them and asked us to wait. We waited 15 minutes for him to finish his conversation and had to go back to him to ask again for our drinks. The lobby and restaurants were well kept but the rooms had a motel 6 quality to them. There were stains on the carpet and the tub. The bathroom floor had chips in it and the air conditioner did not work. I will never stay in this hotel again and will definately NOT recommend it.
