Unhappy with non-smoking room
As a non-smoker I was upset that my room smelled like smoke because it seeped under the door. Addititionally they do not separate the towels and linens so the smoke came in any way. I would have moved hotels except it was a football weekend in Lincoln and I would not have been able to obtain other lodging. I was there for two funerals and quite disappointed.

A little shabby, but OK for a short stay
University Place Inn is a former Howard Johnson’s now operating independently. It’s a little shabby, with poor quality carpet and furnishings, but my room was fairly clean. Many of the rooms face the large indoor courtyard. That’s fine, except it would be very loud in your room if anyone was making noise in the courtyard. On the plus side, the TV receives a surprisingly large number of channels, and drinks in the hotel bar are very cheap. There is also a large swimming pool. It’s OK for a short stay, if you keep your expectations low.

Fine Hotel for the Money
Pretty cheap, clean rooms, nice pool area for kids, basic but everything you need. The place looks a little rough on the outside, but the inside was fine. For a cheap room it was great. If you are looking for a more luxurious stay this is not your place, but if your looking for a cheap place to crash, esp. with kids this will suit you.
