Good, clean comfortable business hotel in a convenient location

I recently stayed at this hotel on a 3 day business trip to Tokyo. The location was very good with convenient access to the JR trains. The selection of restaurants nearby were adequate with the added convenience of the 24hr McDonald’s less than a 5 minute walk away - good for a quick breakfast. The hotel room was a little bigger than the usual Tokyo "business hotel" and was comfortable enough. Two people may be a bit cramped though. The free internet service is a bonus. Staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful - I suppose that this comes with some of the staff having worked there for over 30 years. Being the Annex part of the main Dai Ichi Hotel, the services of the 5 star hotel are readily available should you need it. My next stay in Tokyo would definitely include the Dai Ichi Hotel Annex.

Take a good overcoat and be prepared for office buildings and the subway being quite warm.

Good value for Tokyo

The Dai Ichi Hotel Annex is right across a narrow street from the Dai Ichi Hotel. Convenient, just a three minute walk to the Shimbashi station. The room was in excellent condition, although slightly small by western standards. The staff was very courteous and helpful. An added plus is they upgraded me to a wider double bed room from a single room for no charge when I requested a non-smoking room (all single rooms are smoking). This may have had to do with extra rooms that were available, so it probably won’t work in all cases. On my next trip to Tokyo, I’ll book here again.

Probably the best price for its region

cheap, clean, nice service, close to subway stations, and close to many downtown attractions.

Dai-Ichi Annex - Tokyo (Shimbashi Area)

If you’re looking for opulence, forget it. If you are looking for a place of convenience and somewhere to rest and recharge before heading out in the city, than it’s fine. Everything is in typical Japanese order - it’s neat and clean. Don’t expect largess - rooms are similarly small like you would find in many European lodgings. So long as you are happy to have a temporary spot to hang your hat it works.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Shimbashi station an easy walk - your gateway to travel the city. Quick breakfast? In the station find Beck’s Coffee - for 500 yen you get a breakfast set: scrambled egg, bacon, toast, yogurt w/ granola & honey, orange/carrot juice and coffee - won’t stuff you, but hey for that price, what a bargain.

luxury hotel at affordable price in great location

In a city of overpriced hotels with tiny rooms, the Dai Ichi Anex really stands out. For the price in Tokyo, the hotel was terrific...and the location, within 2 blocks Shimbassi train station and multiple metro lines can’t be beat. Bear in mind, this is not the main Dai Ichi hotel next door, which is ~3 times as expensive. But who cares? The location, rooms and overall quality seem to be the same

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

To find the Dai Ichi, look for the big Choo-choo train in Shimbassi plaza outside the station, then turn right...the hotel is 2 blocks away. From the airport, either take the JR to Shimbassi station ($30), or take the Keisei line to Aoto station, and transfer to the Asakusa subway line which has a stop even closer to the hotel.

Very impressed!

The Dai Ichi Hotel Annex in Tokyo, near the Shimbashi Station was wonderful. I had a very comfortable queen-sized room with a flat-screen TV, fridge, large table with a comfortable desk chair and a stellar bathroom at a very resonalbe price. The Dai Ichi Hotel Annex is very close, about 2 blocks away from the Shimbashi Station and within walking distance of Ginza in Tokyo.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The staff at the Annex were very helpful and speak good English. There are a lot of nearby restaurants and convenience stores.

Central location; nice hotel

Very nice hotel in a great location - short walk to train station and multiple attractions/sites. Rooms were clean and comfortable - small, but typical of Tokyo. Would definitely stay here again.

Just off the beaten path

My two night stay at the Dai Ichi Annex was very positive. THe room was clean and had all needed amenities. The location good because it was close to the Ginza District, but just far enough off the beaten path to avoid all the crowds if desired. Access to the train stations is good and taxis are in line, all the time at the main hotel (not Annex) across the street.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Train stations are within walking distance. Ginza District shopping and restaurants are definitly within walking distance. I walked to the Fish Market too, but I wanted the exercise.

Fantastic Location

This hotel is very conviniently located in Ginza, providing plenty of dining and shopping options and very close to the city’s best art galleries. Dining options range from Yakitori-ya in Shinbashi to Fugu and Teppanyaki restaurants in Ginza. Tokyo tower is a 2 minute walk away. A 3-minute walk to the JR and the subway station (Shinbashi), getting around the city is incredibly easy. (couple of stops to Tokyo station and Tsukiji Fish Market, 7 minute ride to Asakusa). The room is clean and the beds are very comfortable. The reception and the concierge staff were very helpful suggesting travel routes, restaurant choices, etc. Shiatsu massage is available in the room from mid afternoon till 2 AM!

Great value for Tokyo hotels

We just completed a three night stay here and would come back anytime. Great location close to Ginza. A two minuted walk to the Shimbashi train station makes reaching any point in Tokyo extremely easy. The rooms are very nice and reasonably sized (for Japan). Free internet access. A lot of bars and restaurants in walking distance.

Unbeatable value for the location in Tokyo

The hotel is perfectly located if you want to be near Ginza and the Imperial Palace. For a runner, this location is perfect and the price is incredibly reasonable for Japan. I have stayed there multiple times and will continue to stay there in the future.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

There are other hotels in the close area that have more facilities for dining and drinking that you can use for meetings and meals. The amount you can save in the hotel price would pay for the meals and drinks. Hibiya Park is close for relaxing.

Decent hotel in an excellent location

This hotel was just what we needed: clean, modern, reasonably priced, and in an excellent location. The Ginza district is a couple of minutes away, and there are 50 restaurants within 200m of the hotel. Would stay there again.

Good experience

Our 5 nights stay were great! The hotel room is new, modern and clean. It is located near JR and subways.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

From Narita Airport we took Airport Limousine @ 3000yen to its parent hotel and the bell boy assisted us to trolley our luggage to our hotel which is only 100m away.

Small room, single rooms smoking only

Because of the massage chair, the room was hard to get around. Also, I was told at check in that single rooms were smoking only.

Traveler's tip on dining

Good late night sushi until 2am at Shinbashi station. They even have an english menu.

perfect entry into japan

this hotel was great! close to the shimbashi station (4 blocks), where you can catch the JR line (shibuya, shinjuku) or the hibiya line (tsukiji, roppongi) or you can walk to ginza where all the great restaurants are. the hotel staff is very friendly, and speaks good english. The room is small, but well equipped, with a massage chair and a hd tv. It’s got a clean, modern decor, that comforts you right as you walk into the room.

Better than the usual

Dai-ichi Annex has its royal big sister hotel next door, The Dai-Ichi hotel, which provides much more amenities that you can freely access just by staying at this hotel. I wanted something nice, clean, simple, and hassle-free and that’s this hotel. The short walk to the station is very convenient and a close walk to Ginza as well.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Lot’s of high-quality shopping and dining in next-door Ginza. You can freely walk and check out what appeals to you.

Excellent place to stay!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was very friendly and courteous. They were extremly helpful in getting oriented to the neighbourhood. The room was extreamly comfortable. It was clean and very modern. The building itself was very well maintained. It is easily accessible by the Airport Limosuine bus(drops you off at the main hotel next door). The hotel is conveinently loctated about a block from the Shimbashi Subway/ JR Rail station (both the Tokyo Metro Line and the Toei Subway line runs through this station as well as the JR Yamanote Loop Line). The one downside is you have you pay to use the health facilities, but they provide you with a discount coupon. I would sincerly reccomend this hotel to anyone who is looking for an execellent yet inexpensive place to stay in Tokyo!

Traveler's tip

If you are looking for a deal on the subway pass get the Tokyo Free Pass. It is good for one day and you can use it on the JR Rail line, the Tokyo Metro lines, and the Toei Subway lines. The latter is important because the Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway are operated by seperate companies and if you want to switch between the two, you will have to buy a seperate ticket each time, which can get expensive. The pass runs you about 1,520 yen and is good for unlimited rides for the day.

Good salaryman hotel

The Dai Ichi Hotel is teh elegant "executive" hotel adjacent to the Dai Ichi Annex. I stayed at the Annex for seven nights. The hotel is modern, clean, and efficient. The concierges speak English. Rooms are comfortable, but small. Rooms have all the accoutrements that a business traveler needs -- comfortably bed, working desk, internet, sufficient closet space, large window, dark blinds. The Dai Ichi is very conventiently located next to a major train station (Shinbashi) and within walking distance of the Ginza and Hibiya Center. The salon on the 3rd floor is a spacious, pleasant respite in which to relax in the evening after a frantic day around Tokyo. It is also a suitable venue for conducting a 2-5 person business conference. Refreshments are served but are expensive. . . basically $10.00 for a Coke and $15 for a beer. The Dai Ichi ANNEX is not an "Executive Hotel" but a business hotel -- more like a 3-star or 3.5-star. It served my purposes perfectly, but Executives (and well-heeled tourists) should stay next door at the upscale Dai Ichi.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Just outside the Dai Ichi are coffee shops and convenience marts which are much less expensive for breakfast and or sanck, sodas. Dai Ichi Dry Cleaning was superb.

Location, Location, Location

Why do I stay at the Dai Ichi Hotel Annex during my frequent trips to Tokyo? The first reason is location - it couldn’t be easier to travel to any business appointment in Tokyo, to either airport, or to any destination reachable by Shinkansen. The second reason is: location. If you are a runner, the easy access to the Hibiya Park - Imperial Palace loop (~8km) makes this the #1 runner’s hotel in Tokyo. Then there’s the location. The parade of restaurants just outside your door is unbeatable. Any kind of food you would want, and very reasonably priced. They tell me there are a few bars around too. Combine all this with the Dai Ichi Annex’s very courteous staff, and with the delicious (albeit expensive) Japanese breakfast available at the Dai Ichi Hotel next door, and you have my go-to place to stay in Tokyo.

Good location, big rooms

The hotel is 2 min from the JR train station of Shimbashi. It also has 2 important subway lines in the same place. The rooms are quite big for the japanese standars.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Ginza shopping street is 5 min walking. This is the main luxury shopping area with all the international clothing brands. The fish market is 10 or 15 minutes walking. You should go there before 8am, it is early but it worth it!!!!!

Great hotel with great staff

Our stay at the Dai-Ichi Hotel Annex could not have been any better. The hotel’s staff are very warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. The hotel’s location is great, walking distance to many shopping areas, restaurants and train stations. We were very satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Tokyo.
