Disappointing

We were looking forward to staying at the Sun River Resort for a special occassion. However, our hotel room and the staff’s response to issues we encountered were a big disappointment. We complained multiple times that our bed smelled like fish (horrible!). The most that the staff offered to do was spray the mattress with disinfectant. Flowers hanging outside of our room were dead and not changed out for days. Food in the restaurant was fair at best. The blinds next to our restaurant table were broken, so we missed a lovely sunset during our arrival dinner. We’ll definitely rent a condo if we stay in Sun River again or more likely stay elsewhere in Central Oregon.

Sunriver Resort = Perfection

My husband and I stayed at the Sunriver Resort for three nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The resort is beautiful and amazingly well kept for its vast size. We had a wonderful time partaking in the multitude of activities offered in and around the area. We will certainly be back.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

There is so much to do at the resort! Make sure to check out the trailrides from the stables, the observatory for amazing nighttime astronomy, and the marina for kayak or raft trip to the Sunriver Take-Out area ... all of them were fantastic! Be sure to take a tripod, a flashlight, and a good camera out into the golf course area after sundown - the night sky photograhs beautifully in Sunriver!

Lovely stay

We had a great stay at this resort. Our room in the River Lodges was spacious and very pretty, with a great view of the golf course and the mountains. There was a small airport in view but as there isn’t a lot of traffic, mostly glider rides, it just provided additional entertainment. The service was very friendly, especially the reservations people (not the front desk, and helpful. They have miles of paved bike trails winding through the property. I would strongly recommend renting a bike at the bike barn for your entire stay.

Overall very good

Generally good accomadations. Utensils in the kitchen were ok. Hard to cook with only one pot and one pan, both small. Maid service came at strange times making it difficult to enjoy the room. Otherwise, very nice. Lot’s of bike paths. We were close to two swimming pools, although the larger (main pool) was much busier and had lots of oversight that required kids to get out regularly which was a pain.

Beautiful resort

We love staying at the Sunriver Resort. Beautiful setting, great climate and so much to do! Loved all the miles of bike trails & whitewater rafting was lots of fun. My husband loved the Crosswater golfcourse. The rooms are lovely, good restaurants and so much for everyone to do

Beautiful property ... run down facilities

The room was small and showed the effects of years of use with little maintenance. It was not clean the doors did not open and close without dragging on the floors - both the front and patio. It was disappointing based on the Expedia reviews

Location, Location, Location

The location of this resort is what attracted us. We kayak, hike, bike, and golf, and chose Sunriver for it’s proximity to all of these recreational activities. Sunriver met or exceeded our expectations especially when it came to the biking trails and golf which are both available on-site. In addition, we were impressed with the comfort of the rooms and the quality of the restaurants.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Sunriver has 35 scenic miles of biking trails that meander through the property, past the river, tiny airport and Marina. The trails get crowded in the afternoon, so get out early if you want to have the trail to yourself.

Dream vacation resort

Sunriver Resort is amazing. Well-run, beautiful, friendly! So many amenities you have trouble deciding what to do first. Everyone had a blast from the kids to the grandparents. Can’t wait to go back next summer.

I will stay here everytime I’m in the Area

The place is impressive. The Hotel upgraded me for free due to a confusion with my reservation. From a 2Bd/2Ba ranch (duplex) to a 3bd/3ba Home, with a 2 car garage. It was lovely there. The food/service in The Meadows Lodge was terrific & The Trout House, too! Lots of bike/hiking trails. A successful, quiet place to go... conveniently located to the Highway, groceries, food, and gas.

Traveler's tip on dining

Enjoy yourself.

Very Relaxing

My husband and I stayed at Sunriver for the Thanksgiving holiday. It was wonderful. Good food. Very restful. The lighting ceremony on Friday was fun, but it’s really more of a family affair. The hot tub wasn’t working in the men’s locker room, but you can’t have it all, I guess. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Make sure to take the time to check out the bike trails. And try to make it to the Observatory. The gentlemen there were extremely knowledgeable and very patient.

Great family vacation!

We rented a condo for a week and drove from California with our two young kids for a summer vacation. The condo was more than what we expected: updated and fully-equipped kitchen, with "great room" features of dining and living room open connections. It could technically sleep 7, but we were comfortable with 4. (Although my brother and fam. rented the one next door - not nearly as nice as hours, but functional.) We brought bikes/tricycles, but you can rent such (as well as trailers, etc.) across the street at the Village shopping center. Plenty of safe (paved) trails for the family, leading to (4) pools, a gym, playground, baseball field, Deschutes River, etc. The Resort has daily summer kids camp activities and you can choose half or full day (we didn’t do it this trip, so can’t comment). The homeowner’s assoc also as kids camp stuff; not sure if you HAVE to be a homeowner to partake. Only problem would be if you didn’t have a car (like my brother’s family) and wanted to go to downtown Bend (15 min from Sunriver Resort). You would have to call a taxi/shuttle service, which when we called, seemed pretty pricey. Can’t wait to go again next year - great family reunion site for active people! (Running, riding, swimming, other water activities, golfing, etc.).

Wished I could’ve stayed longer!

The hotel was wonderful, lots of things to do in the lodge and the room was very comfortable and romantic with the fireplace. I only wished I could’ve stayed longer.

Very nice

The property is gorgeous. Our room was part of the older section of this hotel, but still very nice. We’ll go back again!

Traveler's tip on dining

The Trout House by the marina was our favorite dining spot. It has a varied menu, and each of us enjoyed our meals.

Overworked

Overworked and understaffed group of people trying to keep things together over the holidays were not successful. Services that the resort promoted were not available, the front desk staff were frantic in answering calls and questions. No chance of getting help with bags, no chance for spa services, gym was crowded.
