Not completely what I expected
We only needed a place to stay because we were in town for a wedding. We didn’t have time to use all the facilities like the pool and spa. This is probably a good thing since everything in the hotel seemed old and not well maintained. I don’t so much mind the old, but keeping things looking good with paint and nice gardens makes all the difference. It doesn’t seem they put that much attention to those details. If all you need is a place to sleep, the beds were comfortable and in general it was a fine place for spending the night. Not a place to hang out.

We loved it
The option to stay at this hotel came from a deal on expedia.com. Are we glad we made the choice to stay at the Hyatt Regency. The staff seems eager to help out. There are events all the time. It is close to shopping (Fashion Valley Mall) and the beach (Balboa Island). We highly recommend this hotel.

disappointing, needs updating, old and smelly
Our room smelled musty. And the carpeting was damp. The bathroom was very old and smelled as well. This hotel should not be a Hyatt Regency as this title suggests a step above. However, the staff was eager to please, and the location was great. The pool furniture was dirty and dated. The food at the restaurant was fine.
