A Very Happy Anniversary!

My wife and I spent our 28th wedding anniversary at Wild Dunes, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice! The resort staff were friendly and helpful. The facility is beautiful. This was our first visit to the Charleston area, and we would love to return. Staying outside of the city gave us opportunities to explore both the city and the surrounding inter-coastal islands.

Boardwalk Inn at Wild Dunes

In a place marketed for its exclusivity, the Wild Dunes are still hospitable with friendly customer service, even if you don’t arrive looking "moneyed." I highly recommend this place as a great out-of-season hotel with extremely easy beach access, a very quiet location, and the cleanest rooms I’ve ever seen. It is also just a short drive from the great seafood bars in Mount Pleasant.

Terrific experience

One of the lovliest beaches we’ve ever been on, only half an hour from one of this country’s most interesting cities, Charleston SC. If you love the beach and want something to do besides reading if the weather isn’t great, this is it. Beautiful accomodations.

Go off-season when the kiddies are in school. In October, you may be walking the beach with only a couple dozen others.

A Special Spot

We have now visited many resorts along the South Carolina shore and this is the best. We stayed at Wild Dunes Resort in early October, and the ocean was still warm and the surf was vigorous. We stayed in the Broadwalk Inn in a nicely appointed and comfortable room. We had only short walk on a boardwalk past three pools to the wide beach. We liked taking lunch at the gazebo with unrestricted views of the ocean. There is more to Wild Dunes Resort than the water, but we didn’t manage to play golf, hit tennis balls, or ride bikes. And lovely Charleston is but 25 minutes away by car.

Loved the Villa

My husband and I stayed in a Villa we had reserved a 1 bedroom but was upgraded to a 3 bedroom 3 bath Villa. Our Villa overlooked the ocean from both master bedrooms and living room. We will go back the grounds were beautiful and there were plenty of restaurants and malls close by.

Loved Our Stay

Wild Dunes was a very very nice place. When we walked into the room we were really impressed. The staff was helpful and nice and we loved being so close to the ocean.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

You can save money on local attractions by combining them for one price. The customer help desk has lots of phamplets about things to do in the local area.

Be careful what room ytou book

My only complaint is when we booked a room - we upgraded to the villa which turned out to be aweful..We were literally a mile away from our wedding party. The villa was not up to the standards in which I would assume represent Wild Dunes Resort..neds to be updated. Needless to say Chris took very good care of us and switch us to the Village Garden which reflects the above scores. Chris deserves a 10 - he was very accommodating..

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure you know where your room is - the resort is very big..

Can’t wait to go back.

My Husband and I wanted some place to go for relaxation and comfort. We were very pleased with our room. Plus the time of year we decided to go was perfect. After the summer rush. Pricing was great and we will return. The staff very professional. Love the location of the beach from our room.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Will go back again. Great place for rest and relaxation. Close to great resturants and walking distance to the beach.

My Happy Place

This was our 4th visit to Wild Dunes. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa in The Village and it could not have been any nicer - everything was just beautiful. We relaxed on the beach which is our favorite part. We also went on the Dolphin Discovery boat ride which was great! The boat captain was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and ecosystems and the whole trip was fantastic! We highly recommend it. We love Wild Dunes and can’t wait to go back!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Make sure you take a trip into the city - the horse & carriage tour rides are the best way to see some sights and learn the local history. The guides are great people!

Wonderful Hotel

We loved our stay at Wild Dunes! It was the perfect beach getaway. With several restaurants within the community, it was perfect for beaching all day and eating at a very nice restaurant within walking distance.

Great place for biking and walking esp. on the beach

We stayed for 3 nights in a 3 bedroom/3 bath condo, oceanfront. Very much an upgrade. since I reserved a 1bed/1bath place. It was so very nice and comfy, close to the beach and the hot tub. The deck was our favorite spot for breakfast and cocktails after a day of beach biking and sightseeing. We enjoyed the spaciousness of it. People were great! Would really recommend it.

Traveler's tip on dining

We had some very good meals at the Boatyard, and also the Marina. Go into Isle of Palms downtown and enjoy the beach front pub there--great fun and very fun people.

Incredible trip, planning another return visit

Fantastic resort property; fantastic trip. Blessed with wonderful weather (highly suggest Sept/Oct as travel dates). One restaurant (upscale) on the property was closed, but not dismayed; options abundant on the island. Amenities at the resort and on the island were plentiful. Great place for quiet and relaxation. Would be a wonderful honeymoon or anniversary trip.

Traveler's tip on dining

Sullivan’s Island and Shem’s Creek great spots for lunch or dinner. Johnny’s Dogs (Mt.Pleasant)or Jacks Cosmic Dogs (Isle of Palms) great "locals" spot for lunch.

Exceeded Expectations

I visited Wild Dunes as a child (over 15 years ago) and we were expecting the hotel to be a little ’worn’ from the years... We were pleasantly surprised at how current & beautiful the decor was - inside & outside - everything was gorgeous. We stayed in the Boardwalk Inn (had 8 month old baby with us) which was so incredibly convenient to the beach, pools, eateries, restaurant, etc. We planned tennis 2 days & had a great tennis lesson. We would absolutely visit again.

worst luck

overall the hotel/resort was nice, but we had run-in w/ a local (pest) in the middle of the night. they did change our room but it ended up being next to a vibrating/noisy elevator, so it was impossible to get a good night sleep. walls between the rooms were pretty thin, so i could hear our neighbors. Make sure to get a room away from the elevator or any machine room. Staff was pretty friendly and helpful despite of it all.

Stayed in a home

Wild Dunes offers private homes as well. I stayed in a 3 BR / 3 BA. Great way to feel at home while enjoying all the comforts of a great resort and beach.

Very nice, very relaxing

Hotel was clean, staff very helpful and friendly, quiet, relaxing family atmosphere and close to everything. Just a short walk down the boardwalk to the ocean. A little pricey, but I would stay here again.

Very Nice

This was a great choice we made. A definite place for families. We were walking distance to the beach and the whole resort was very nice. It was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. It was very close to Mt. Pleasant so dining and other amenities were close by. I’d stay here again. My only gripe was the parking. It was valet only and we stayed a week. So I ended up having to tip guys quite a bit all week.

Traveler's tip on dining

Head out north or East on highway 17 towards Georgetown and look for the Seewee Restaurant. Its not flashy by no means(very casual) and the service wasn’t even that great, but food was magnificent. We’d never gone ourselves because it kind of looks like a dump but friends recommended it to us.

Great stay

we booked a last minute 4 night stay at the Boardwalk Inn and were very impressed. Highlights were the quality of the staff (esp Valet gang and the lady bar tender who kept us topped up with iced water by the pool); lovely surroundings; clean comfortable room, relaxing hotel pool, and closeness to the beach and Charleston. Only minor criticisms were the pools near the beach were too crowded for the size and we did have to wait a little while for our food in the Battered Olive...when it arrived it was fine but no more. We had read the reviews and our expectations had been lowered slightly so we made sure that we got a table outside so that the children could play, and enjoyed a glass of wine whilst we waited. Really not a problem! We would definitely recommend the Wild Dunes and will return there in the very near future.

Take a carriage tour on your first visit to Charleston. Great for learning some of the history and getting a feel for the layout during your stay. We went for the Red Barn tours which included 2 hours free parking near the market.

If the accommodation is what you paid for.

I was promised an Ocean front villa to accommodate 6 to 7 people. Initially what Igot was accommodation in a building far away from the beach etc. After a lot of discussion we were given a smaller beach front villa that accommodated 4 people. Not comfortable for 6 people.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

A great deal to see and exciting water sports.

Coastal South Carolina Gem

Wild Dunes Resort is located on Isle of Palms, SC, about 20 minutes from Charleston, SC. My husband, our infant son, and I stayed there for five days and had a wonderful experience. The resort offers condos and villas; we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn on the resort. The Inn is just steps from the beach and restaurants, small shops, and a deli are close by. The Inn has its own beautiful swimming pool, as well as the use of 2 pools near the pavillion by the beach. There is also a swim center. The beach was very clean and uncrowded. Our room was beautifully appointed, spacious, and comfortable. The staff could not have been more gracious. We had a wonderful time and would recommend Wild Dunes Resort to anyone without hesitation. It is very family-friendly, but i believe it would also be great for a romantic getaway for a couple.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Wild Dunes has numerous activities available at the resort, from sports to nature. The resort is only minutes from Charleston, and we strongly recommend taking in the beautiful historic neighborhood south of Broad St. to the Battery, antique shopping along King Street, and shopping and dinning along Meeting St. There is so much to do, you need to plan a few days to devote to it!

Wonderful stay at beach

The Boardwalk Inn met all of our expectations. We typically rent a house at Wild Dunes, but only had a limted amount of time. The facilities were first class, the staff friendly and professional, and the hotel itslef was in the heart of the beach and related acitivities
