Old hotel

Nice hotel but dated, the old lobby should be used as it was in the 1930’s. The theme should be carried out to include employees dressing the part.

decent price for location

The hotel overall was not that bad. The price was cheap and it is located right on the Boardwalk one hotel away from the Pier shops and only two blocks away from the outlet malls. Our hotel room was average however the shower was broke and while one would come out of the shower head as well as the tub sprout. When asked if there was a wine opener we could use they wanted to charge us 3 dollars. The pool and jacuzzi are which was nice and rooftop however we had to pay 10 a room/per day and the use of the gym equipment was even more and not included in the 10 fee outrageous. Also during the time that we were there I was really sick with my sinuses and did not feel like eating amongst other guests so we asked if it would be possible to do a take out from one of their many restaurants and we were told we couldnt, a simple gesture that would have made my whole day. Would I stay there again? Possibly given the low price however I think I would rather venture on down to some other hotels for a slighty more price but more bang for your buck.

not impressed

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel in a so called luxury room. No great view. Room was rather small (even compared to some standard rooms). On two different occasions the room was not ready when I came back in my room, despite the fact that I called the Housekeeping Dept. in due time and asked them to clean my room for 1pm. I was NOT amused. One feels that the hotel is going down the drain.... The crisis maybe? However the bed was excellent.

Smoky, poor service, and second-rate section of Bally’s

The Claridge Tower portion of Bally’s is not very nice. The only access passes next to the smoking section of a mini-casino -- for some reason, the smoke didn’t stop at the edge of the smoking section. The room I was assigned was huge, but barren and without working wireless internet -- I spent an hour with various technical folks without getting it fixed, missed some important e-mail, and then spent another hour getting the charge reversed twice because the first time didn’t stick. All of the service is very pleasant, but mostly not able to help with anything but the simplest issues; I fault none of the individuals I talked with -- they were clearly working as hard as they could within a system that made service to the customer difficult. There is no concierge, the front desk phone is not answered 80% of the time, lost-and-found is closed at night (or at least the computer is shut off so that nothing can be found...), and smoking sections are not separated from non-smoking sections.

The pier is probably the most pleasant place I visited. Their Starbucks had a great view, and the sushi restaurant on the third floor had good service, good sushi, and a similar awesome view -- aim for sunset!

Extraordinarily ordinary.

The hotel was extraordinarily ordinary, a room like any other. And my room’s location was far from just about everything in the casino, especially the conference area in which the meetings for the purpose of my trip took place.

cigarman

I was quite happy with Bally’s, the only down point I can recall was a slight attempt to redirect me to another type room when I had booked a king bed room...other than that, it was very nice.

Just OK

The room was ok. Nothing great. I did ask for a non smoking and somehow I think it was a smoking room. The room smelled stale.

I love it

I was very impress with the "check in" staff. we arrived early and she went out of our way to get us into a room way before the check in time. House keeping was extremely friendly and was prompt to accommodate our every need. We rented a car and used the parking garage at Bally’s in the Claridge garage. There was one very friendy woman who worked in the evening who was very pleasant and always made me smile each time I went to park the car. I wish I got her name because she should be promoted. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice place to stay

Nice place, could be updated

The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean, but I do think they could use somee updating mostly the bathrooms. All rest. were good and everyone was very helpful.

You get what you pay for

I was given an ocean view but the windows were filthy. The room was ok but the linens and towels were old. Even the napkins from room service smelled musty and looked old. It wasn’t bad for the price, it was around $100.00 cheaper than neighboring hotels.

PLEASANT STAY

FROM YOUR PREVIOUS REVIEWS WE KNEW NOT TO EVEN TRY THE CLARIDGE. WE GOT TO THE CHECK IN DESK AND AFTER A FEW TRYING MOMENTS WE WERE GIVEN A TOWER ROOM WHICH WAS SATISFYING.

Great time

I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had a great time. The lady at the front desk upgraded our room because it was his birthday, and the staff were overall really nice and pleasant. Checking in took a little bit, they needed more people at the front desk, but after that everything was great. It’s really nice being on the boardwalk and it has easy access to other casinos. We would totally go back.

Not that great

The hallway edges and corners looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in years. The carpet in the room was stained and needed up dating. It was a good location though.

Favorable experience

Based on recent reviews, I was leery of staying at Bally’s. The central location was the selling point. We made sure to upgrade to the Bally’s Tower rather than the Claridge. It was obvious that the hotel is aging, but the room was clean (although there were stains on the carpet and one of the coverlets), and the staff was courteous.

Not a bad value for the money

We were in the Claridge tower, rather than Bally’s proper. The rooms are a bit small and kind of old - the sink and the tub and the toilet are in the same room. Our window didn’t face the boardwalk, it overlooked a vacant lot. But that meant we could see a decent strip of the ocean if we looked that direction. When we got there, there were dishes in the hall. Eventually most of them were picked up, but there was one glass that nobody cleaned. We made a running joke about it, pushing it further down the hall a few inches every time we passed it. There was a problem with the room safe, but the locksmith came promptly and handled it quickly. There was a problem with the T.V. but that was also handled promptly. The beds were actually better than I expected. Very comfortable. The front desk wasn’t particularly helpful with questions like "Where is there karaoke in town tonight?" but I can’t really fault them too much for that. The main Bally’s tower has a newer spa and pool, but they charge $10 to use it and another $20 for a locker. Both were free in the Claridge tower. All in all, it was fine. While the experience wasn’t noteworthy in any good way, it wasn’t noteworthy in any particularly bad way either. The rooms at Bally’s were something like 25% less than other rooms available on the boardwalk at the same time. I understood that I would probably be at the Claridge, and I wasn’t expecting a resort experience.

Unsatisfied

I was charged $10.00 for just checking to see if I could watch the news on T.V., the rep. told me she was going to reverse the charged, it was out of my account, there was no water for my to take a shower one night, until the next day when reported they merely said we are aware and working on it with no appology.

Bally’s continues it’s slide

I have stayed here many times and it seems it just gets worse each time. The real reason we stay there is the location.

Nice place

Great Location on the boardwalk, close to beach and shopping. Nice view of the ocean from the room’s window. Fast elevators, convenient parking only $5 for the entire stay. Nice, big casino, non-smoking. The refrigerator in the room was noisy. The beach in Atlantic City is wide but very dirty, fine sand but to much trash mix in it.

Will be going back again

I really like the hotel. I thought that the staff were respectful, friendly, and approachable. My family and I were greeted by staff almost everyday of our stay. In addition, I enjoyed the access to the boardwalk and the outlets from the hotel. I even like the fact that the hotel was wheelchair and stroller accessible. I believe that my family and I were safe due to all the cameras being around as well as the security staff. I will be going back again.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

At the Bally’s Hotel they have the 6th floor where you can take the children so that they can enjoy themselves. I think that this is great that they include the whole family.

Room Upgraded

Our stay here was alright however, we upgraded to a deluxe room in the Claridge and we would up getting "upgraded" to a standard room in "The Tower" which was not as nice. WiFi internet access is 12 bucks for 24 hours.
