Great hotel with not so great service

This hotel would get a higher score from me if the service was just a little better. Not that it was very bad, it just wasn’t up to what I would expect from a hotel with this many stars. That being said - the room was spacious and comfortable, and living here you’re just a short walk from the main street and everything Auckland has to offer. And they have a nice indoor swimming pool - always a plus in my book!

Very Comfortable Rest After Long Flight

My friend and I stayed 2 nights at the Rendezvous after arriving in Auckland before setting out to travel the country. Our flight arrived in Auckland at 6:15am. We asked to check-in early. We could have immediately gotten a room on a smoking floor, but we chose to wait a few hours for a room on a non-smoking floor. They kept our luggage for us while we went out for bit, and then we were able to check-in around 11am with no problems. Really comfy beds, great bathroom, and enjoyed using the pool and sauna. Prices for room service and mini bar were very reasonable. Also, we were able to get 15 minutes of free internet access in the business center which was just right for checking email.

Daily Internet fee is Expensive!!!!

Its very close and walking distance to downtown, all the tourist attractions and restaurants. however the ridiculous and expensive daily internet fee of $33.95 is just too much. I stayed at Rendezvous Hotel in Singapore prior to my visit in Auckland and their internet fee is reasonable. I ask the receptionist why its too much and she replied: youre from the US its still cheaper for you! hotel needs to add more staff during peak hours, it took me almost half an hour standing in line just to check out.

Good Hotel

The hotel was in a good location. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would probably go back on my next visit.

Nothing to complain about, except....

...that as it happens with many hotels, I believe the internet use charge is very high and if the hotels advertises itself as a "deal" (and it is, except...), it looks abusive to charge for the comfort of internet service.

Best location and best value for money

The hotel is at the heart of the city. Easy to access any facilities in Auckland. I like the hotel but I may suggest the hotel to give more reception personal during peak hour. I can’t contact them via house phone, or some urgent event, when I was outside and I have to call back to my collegues but no one pick up the phone call!! BTW, I still like this hotel

Rendevous Hotel

It’s a little too far to walk to the harbor, but was close to shopping and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was wonderful, but the dinner at night had very slow service and just mediocre food. They do not serve lunch.

Location, location, location!

I must say I was most impressed with the Rendezvous Hotel... excellent value for money... large, comfortable room, with all necessary amenities. Efficient and polite stafff (but then I found every New Zealander I met, most curteous). The best feature of this hotel, however is undoubtedly it’s superb location - it is within a short walking distance from all major amenities (including the Sky Tower and high street shopping). Definitely well placed as a four star hotel, but at 3 star prices. Can’t go wrong with this hotel, whether your objective is business or leisure travel!

Be prepared for an extremely slow and thorough check in at Auckland’s International Airport and allow an extra hour for check-in... they adhere strictly to baggage weight and content allowances - 22 kg and 7 kg’s respectively for check-in and hand luggage. If you exceed these be prepared to have to unpack your baggage in front of everyone waiting in line! This can be embarassing and expensive!!

This was a great hotel just off of Queen Street, and within easy walking distance of the waterfront as well. The hotel was very quiet, well put together and all of the staff was very polite. The room was fantastic - tons of room, very comfortable and an enormous bathroom with a spa tub and separate shower. Nice pool and workout facility as well. For it’s proximity to main areas and for the size and comfort of the room this was a great deal. Would definitely go back again.

not impressed

The room was very worn. Dirty corners of the room, carpet looked stained. Couldn’t get into the executive lounge although I did pay extra for it. Advised front desk and they said to try knowking on the door. Didn’t have time to keep trying. Asked for compensation and l=they looked at me like I was crazy. Concierge was very helpful

Great choice for Auckland visit

Overall we were very pleased with the accommodations at the Rendevoux. The staff was helpful and cooperative, rooms spacious and comfortable, parking structure convenient, location for seeing downtown Auckland excellent, and most all of all a delicious full breakfast. Computer access available, but pricey.

Great location in central Auckland

Especially if you have limited time, this hotel is located near all the major streets, attractions (Sky Tower, Queen Street) and bus lines. The concierge staff was very helpful in recommending how to pack the most into two days, with maps and discount cards and good timelines. Room was modern, quiet and comfortable.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The Aotea Market is literally across the street on Fridays and Saturdays in the Aotea Centre, with great handcrafts and New Zealand made items with reasonable prices. It is open in all weather. Skip the souvenir stores and go to the Aotea Market.

Fantastic hotel for the price. Clean, comfortable, and really fabulous bathroom. Walking distance to everything too.

stained sheets and rude staff

The sheets were stained. The room smelled of fumes from the moment we walked in. We requested a non-smoking room but it smelled like a smoking room. We were over charged for hotel parking and when we found out the next day that we overpaid, we asked the hotel for a refund and ended up waiting half an hour. They were insistent we leave as the person who had authority to issue refunds was absent, however, as we persisted in getting reimbursed for the overpaid parking, and reaching for the "comment card" they magically refunded us for the day of overpaid parking.

Sleeping in Auckland

The hotel room was very comfortable but the service wasn’t as good as we get in the US. We did eat the buffet for breakfast but it wasn’t very good for the cost. I wouldn’t have another meal there. Overall if you are there to rest it is a very nice hotel. If you are looking for service you may want to try somewhere else.

This is a nice hotel, but...

Overall this hotel is nice, and exactly as described. They did apologize or fix all the problems I had when I brought them to their attention. First they put me in a room I had not booked - a double instead of a king as stated on my Expedia. They moved me, but only after I called the front desk twice as they sent the porter to the wrong room with my new key. The do-not-disturb button did not work which I discovered only after being walked in on by the cleaning staff, who make their rounds rather early. This would have been fine except they didn’t notify anyone it was broken like they said they would and the same thing happened the following morning - very intrusive. Finally, my breakfast card was not picked up from outsider door even though I had hung it within the time specified. I had to call room service in the morning after waiting for it to arrive, then there was confusion until we all figured out no one had taken my order the night before, and the new meal arrived quickly after that - though still 45 mins after I had originally thought it would be arriving. The staff were friendly and good at solving problems, I just wish they could have done a bit more to prevent them. Overall good tourist or business class hotel but I wouldn’t stay there again because it was annoying.

Great Hotel

The location of the Rendezvous is perfect for those first time visitors to Auckland. Centrally located, easy walking distance to all the major sites and a first class hotel and staff made it an enjoyable experience.

It is worth the extra money for the Plaza Club which includes breakfast as well as canapes/drinks on the top floor with a spectacular view of the city.
