The hotel...if that’s what you’d like to call it...was tragically stuck in a timewarp. It needs to be updated and have some customer-service and standards set for their maintenance of the rooms and facilities. - This should only be a last-resort stop. It no longer upholds the greatness of the Howard Johnson hotel reputation.

Not Impressed

The hotel staff was very friendly but im affraid the hotel istself was a bit run down. I felt the room wasn’t as clean as is could be and the hotel door didn’t have a good seal at all and had daylight showing all around it. Also, the water shut off on me for about 30 min for no particular reason, then turned on again.

The Titan museum was very interesting

In one word: Fair

The level of comfort and service is good. Been there earlier on a couple of ocasions and probably would keep it in mind for future visits to Tucson as a safe bet.

Not impressed

The bathroom in our room was beyond old and honestly scared away any desire to use it... The receptionist was not very helful... There are other options close to this location which might be worth exploring.

Dissatisfied

I understand that the price was inexpensive, but for a Howard Johnsons, it was very ran down. The bathroom was the worst ever. The tile in the tub was not finished and what they did accomplish, did not match. I felt like I was staying in a very, very low end Hotel.

Needs a little help

We were very satisfied with the overall appearance of the hotel however a huge factor for me was the carpet inside the actual room. My family and I like to walk around bare foot which we did but within minutes our feet were completely black on the bottom as if we had been walking on asphalt. I would definitely recommend that your carpets be cleaned and maintained there after. Otherwise the price and the comfort were very comfortable. Thank You for the stay. :) The only real other thing was that there was nothng close for out of towners - no local restaurant but the one next door (Kettle) and yeah no..

Clean but needs renovations desperately

This hotel is conveniently located off of IH-10 which is why we chose it. We stayed here on two seperate nights; different rooms each night. Both rooms were pretty clean. They just need renovating/updating. The restrooms especially need updating. The restroom of the second room we staid in had obviously had some kind of water leak. There were splashes of paint dried on the inside walls of the bath tub, stains on the walls, and tiles had obviously been replaced from somewhere else. Other than the nice marble-type flooring, the inside of this restroom reminded me of a gas station restroom. However, it was clean. The swimming pool was green the second night we stayed. The continental breakfast definitely left much to be desired. Of course, I suppose one cannot complain to much since the breakfast was included in the cost of the room (free continental breakfast). My husband said the one bite of the eggs was so bad he couldn’t make himself eat any more. Okay if you need a clean cheap place to stay. However, I don’t think I would choose to stay here again myself.

I didnt expect a luxury hotel, but I did expect a clean room that was in decent shape. I got neither. this was at best a 1* hotel. very dissapointing for a HoJo.

Not a good one

This is not a good hotel to stay. The rooms are not comfortables, the beds are old. The room had not remote control for TV I asked for one and it did not work. When I called front desk for a change they told me that I have to go to lobby to switch it. I asked for someone to go to the room and change it and they told me no, you have to come and pick it up.

You get what you pay for

We have two main concerns when booking a hotel: the safety of the area and the hotel itself, but more importantly the cleanliness of the hotel. All we need is a safe and clean place to sleep. The extras i.e. view, room service, free continental breakfast, even a television are unnecessary as we only planned to sleep at the hotel and use the bathroom.Initially, the hotel seemed to meet these basic requirements. Then, we found hair on the hand towels and hair on the bedding. We notified the front desk the next morning. We asked the room be cleaned thoroughly. Upon our return, we immediately discovered the bedding was in worse condition than when we left it. The three pillows we were given had lipstick smudges, mold, and what looked to be mascara stains. We called the front desk and the staff said they’d send over "new ones" right away. Instead of bringing us new pillows, they brought us only "new" pillow cases. These were clean, but it is difficult to shake the idea of the stains and the hair, especially in regards to where we sleep. This hotel was the only hotel within our budget, so we felt stuck. We visited Tuscon because my elderly grandparents live there. Because they live in an assisted living facility, we could not stay with them. Regardless of budget or ratings, cleanliness should be a priority for all hotels.

Traveler's tip

It would be helpful if Expedia could include information regarding the safety of the area surrounding the hotels as well as crime rates, etc. Fortunately, we were able to speak to my grandparents’ caregiver who gave us the "head’s up" about certain neighborhoods. I think that part of the hotel review survey should include a question regarding safety issues.

very good hotel for the price. In this town we have poor quality in cheap hotels this one was very good.

OK for a quick overnight

Hotel badly needs renovation. Chair in room had torn upholstery, no microvae or refrigerator. Bathroom sink was just a top on poles. Bathroom had cracked tiles, caulk, etc. In ceonsiderable disrepair, but overall, clean. We left too early too take advantage of breakfast. It served it’s purpose...a quick overnight to catch an early morning flight from Tucson.

Not impressed

The motel room was dirty, there were stains on the walls, and the door didn’t close properly. I wouldn’t recommend this motel to my worst enemy. I would have left but we drove 8 straight hours and were exhausted.

I believe that the room should have been further discounted as there was construction taking place on the freeway ramp and surrounding streets...the pool was closed for repairs, which weren’t actively being done - the water in the pool looked like swamp water that had just been sitting for a very long time...the room carpet was filled with stains...the bedspread was torn...There was no microwave in the room...and the TV channels were not available as shown on the hotel directory...the people were wonderful...the actual facility was terrible...

Good choice for the economically minded traveler

An older motel that is well maintained. Courteous, helpful staff. Would use again.
