Bad place to sleep

For the record: I got room number 206. I wrote this review when I was at the hotel: That’s my first time at Astor. When my wife and I got here we had a very nice first impression. Polite staff and nice interior design. We got our junior suite with a view of the back of the hotel, where they have a restaurant. At that night it was impossible to sleep, even after a very long flight from Brazil. The sound was so loud. We called the front desk at 1AM and they offered to change rooms, but they were almost full and you could hear the beat from everywhere. The party was over at around 3AM. We thought that that was the only night with a party. In fact it was the only night with a VERY LOUD music. So far it’s been 5 days, and almost every night the music is just loud. So, if you want to party every night, non stop, that’s the place to be. If you want to sleep once in a while, don’t choose this hotel. Another problem we had is that they had a $10 fee for continental breakfast. You have to pay it in advance, so we decided to get it. Unfortunatelly, after 1 day they changed the rules and now you have to pay $18 per person for breakfast. So, am I going to stay at this hotel next time? No. Now it’s your choice to sleep or not.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Internet is free, you don’t have to pay $10 extra dollars a day.

Pretty Decent

I’ve stayed 3 nights at Astor. I got there in the early morning and the hotel was full. They promply got me a room - upgraded - but not one to my friend. At night, when we got back, they got her one just out of the hallway, facing the emergency stairs! She couldn’t sleep as it was their service area!! I must say that in the following day, she got an upgraded room. Besides that, the facet in my bathroom wasn’t working but the problem were solved asap. The air conditioning is a bit noising but didn’t disturbed my sleeping. As I was carriyng some medications that needed to be well refrigerated, the staff promply offered to store it in a bigger fridge. Nice of them. I would recomment this hotel. But be aware we’re not talking about a 5 star! Oh... The room , deluxe, was big and comfortable as well as the bathroom. I’d definetly come back.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Go to Starbucks, a couple of blocks away, for breakfast. Hotel’s just not worth it.
