Madrid 2009

The hotel was very sleek and modern. The rooms were fairly spacious for a European hotel and the staff was fine. The front desk attendants were either very very nice or simply adequate in person. The biggest complaint we had was the price of internet service, which was expensive considering the exchange rate. The room was clean and had hardwood floors (or faux wood) which was nice because the smell of hotel carpets is never pleasant, so the room smelled fresh everyday. We had a room that faced an alley and some noise was heard at night, but not enough to be annoying. The shower was good, although like all European showers, the floor was soaked because they haven’t figured out how to use shower doors yet. Overall, it was a good hotel in a good location, near a metro stop, museums, and right across the street from the train station.

There were two small groceries across the street, which sold water, bread, and sandwich meats/cheeses, chips, etc. They were great to get breakfast stuff. We used the hotel mini fridge to keep them cold. Try the small cafes near the Sofia Riena (right across the street) for the calamari sandwiches...they were awesome and sooo cheap! You have to travel for a nice restaurant to sit down at though. Try walking around the Plaza del Sol area. Don’t eat tapas anywhere on the streets near the Prado, they are overpriced and not tasty.

Good hotel, great location

The hotel is really well located, close to the Prado and several other museums. Also close to the botanical gardens. The bed was comfortable, and I am picky about that, it seemed clean, and the staff was helpful. I had some trouble when I tried to use their computer to connect to my email, but other than that it was great. I would definitely stay there again

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I really liked the Thysmen-Bersmein (sp?) museum. They have a great collection of impressionists. Also, the cafe at the museum is wonderful. I had the menu of the day, which was really good and a great value for the money. Especially nice was that the indoor part of the cafe was no smoking, which is hard to find in spain.

Beautiful hotel, very close to museums and Atocha station

This hotel is extremely well located, less than one block away of Museo Reina Sofia, in a street full of places to eat tapas and very safe at night. Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms, everything was perfect, we loved it.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Internet can be a little pricey, but if you walk 2 or 3 blocks, you can find a internet place that has wi fi.
