Park Central Hotel - Never Again!

Where oh where do I start??? **Customer service was awful. The receptionist at the main desk was extremely rude and didn’t inform me she was placing me on hold *while I was still talking to her* **There’s no option (door tag) that allows you to prevent room service **Cleaning crew removed my bottle of wine, which was barely consumed and bought so I could numb my horrible experience senseless **If you are looking for internet connection, don’t bother here. They gladly take your money even though they are fully aware that your internet connection is intermittent and doesnt last longer than 2 minutes (if you’re lucky) **Don’t bother trying to use your cell phone here ** Ahhhh, and the in room dining...great if all you want is a sandwich because their restaurant was not operational at the time

Wonderful location

We booked into Park Central because of it’s location and weren’t disapointed.The staff were helpful and when help was requested they were prompt in attending.There are numerous restaurants nearby where you can buy breakfast ,coffee etc. A block or so up from the hotel is a bar called PJ Carneys which I recommend for those people wanting a drink or even a light meal.I do not recommend eating at TGI Friday. The food was expensive ,the service poor and the portions very small.This was my third visit to New York the last time being the year before 9/11. I was shocked by the way the whole atmosphere in the city had changed.Airport staff were rude and unhepfull,the taxi drivers grasping and the people on the street would knock you over and stamp on you.We do not intend to go again.

Please expect to stand in a queue for 2 hours at the airport. Despite filling in the visa form on the internet we were required to complete a paper copy on the plane.Then everyone’s fingerprints were taken,also photographs and then we were questioned about the amount of cash we were taking into the country.All in all this was not a good start to our holiday.

Very Disappointed

To begin with, my husband dropped me off and went to return the rental car and the front desk wouldn’t let me check in because the reservation was made through Expedia on my husband’s credit card. I had the confirmation email, but I had to wait over an hour for my husband to return and the lobby was full with no place to sit. The hotel is badly in need of refurbishing. It is very shabby. Our bathroom had mold all over and there was a wad of hair on the floor. Also, the a/c wasn’t working properly. The only thing good about the hotel was the location and the bell captain who was very helpful in getting a car to take us to the airport.

"Park" Somewhere Else

Overpriced lousy rooms and lousy guest amenities camouflaged by a trendy lobby. The room on the seventh floor was dark, dingy and spartan. For what they charge for a Thursday, it was a rip-off. The kicker for me was the bag charge for holding our luggage briefly after check-out. I’ve paid more and gotten more, I’ve paid less and less, but never have I paid so much for so little. Give the Park Central a pass, it would be hard not to do better.

Will come back

This hotel was in a superb location. Only a few blocks north of time square and 2 avenues west of 5th ave, one can walk anywhere. If walking isn’t for you, there is a subway station right around the corner that will take you to east village and chinatown. Central Park is also only a few blocks north. The lobby was very swanky. My only problem with my room was with the AC, for some reason, it just wouldn’t get cold. So, a few warm nights aside, I thought this hotel was a great bargain.

Best position but not well serviced

The cleanliness of the room was poor, had to even ask for it to be vacuumed. No fridge. But close to many cafes, convenience stores, Broadway theatres, Carnegie Hall, Central Park. Staff not particularly rfriendly or helpful. But posiiton is everything, so had a great time.

Comfortable Rooms in Good Location

This is a well-located hotel on 7th Ave, near Carnagie Hall. It is within walking distance of the Theatre District and Lincoln Center. The rooms are comfortable and staff friendly.

I’ll definitely go back. Super location

I’ve been to New York many times, and I always try to stay somewhere in Midtown. For those of you who like being close to the Park, this is ideal. It’s less than 3 (very short) blocks to the Park. The surrounding area is beautiful. It’s a pretty good deal. It’s right next to the Carnegie Hall, and walking distance to the Lincoln Ctr. Unless you’re willing to pay for being right at the Park, this is probably the best you can get. The hotel is also pretty good compared to others in NY. It’s very clean, it has a big lobby area and the restaurant is very good and overlooks the 7th Av.

Tired hotel and including some staff!

We drove up on Sunday PM, and found no assistance at the curb. There was activity with other patrons, but doorman or adequate staff to greet and assist with our luggage. We brought our luggage into the hotel to queue up the registration desk where we met a very helpful and knowledgeable receptionist. On subsequent "departures and arrivals" from the hotel via cabs, we have very mixed reviews! It was windy and stormy on one occasion, and we asked the doorman if he would hail us a taxi. He responded, while standing under the hotel doorway awning protected from the rain, "You’ll never get a cab." We had to stand out into street, and hailed a cab ourselves. The hotel is very tired and needs a facelift. If they could paint over the chipping paint around elevators, and etc, perhaps the hotel would feel a bit more refreshed......but I think it needs much more than just paint. I would not consider returning to thePark Central Hotel, as there are many others in the area that provide "great location."

Great location near attractions but very loud. We were not able to get to sleep.

Mildew and Must

The room was clean, but the smell of mildew or must was absolutely overwhelming. When you walked into the room it smelled like walking into a damp, underground cellar. WOuld never stay there again.

We were very satisfied with this hotel. The room was a good size. Hotel was close to everything, restuarnts, subways, Central Park. No complaints. We will choose this hotel again.

Great Location

Perfect place to stay when in NYC for vacation. You can see both central park and times square when you step out of the hotel. They even let us check in early at 9am on our first day.

Not impressed

We got to the hotel before check-in time and the hotel allowed us to check in early since they had a room ready. We get to the room and noticed a bad smell. We dropped off our luggage and left. Upon returning that night, I noticed a 2X2 square foot of mold (fuzzy and all) in the corner of the room near the window. I went to the front desk and asked to switch rooms. They said there was nothing availiable that night and it would have to wait until morning. I had to sleep with the bad smell and mold. The next morning they said the new room wasn’t clean yet and we could move our luggage around 4. When we finally moved into the new room on the same floor it also had mold in the very same spot. I complained and got a very nice women (the reason for the 3 rating for service) who gave us another room on a different floor. This room had NO MOLD! I actually was happy there was no mold so I didn’t complain again even though the a/c didn’t cool. We just opened the window and will stay somewhere different next time! It was a great location.

Very well Situated

very well situated, between the Central Park and Times Square. we had a very comfortable and clean room, decorated tastefully, although the role of the wall is already to change.

Located a block and a half from Central Park, three blocks from the theater and five blocks from Times Square, Park Central certainly lived up to its name.

the hotel is situated in an ecxellent location and the price is reasonable for new york. I was surprised that they charged for storing the baggage. This is outrages and they did not tell me that it will cost money when I gave them my luggage.

Great Location and service

The location of the hotel is more than great, you can walk trough Times Square in just 5 minutes. Great pacakage price and easy to buy. This was our first time buying a trip on expedia and we will do it againg for sure.
