hotel good location, but room disappointing

the hotel had its own dock, which was very handy, but the rooms were not half as good as the pictures in their ad on the internet. no two rooms were the same size, or shape. the bathroom was very inconvenient and small. breakfast was adequate, but not terrific. not too many choices,

Traveler's tip on local attractions

the hotel was only about three blocks from san marco and was very handy for shopping, etc. but all the restaurants in that area catered primarily to tourists, and therefore were quite expensive. all of Italy is quite expensive now.

Venice First-timers

This was our first visit to Venice and we booked the All Angelo after researching online and also receiving a personal recommendation. WE arrived in Venice on a Saturday (big cruise ship day) and found that the walk to the hotel through San Marco square was a bit difficult due to the extreme crowds. Once reaching the All Angelo, however, it provided a sanctuary from those crowds. As we were traveling with friends and young adults, we had the advantage of experiencing three different types of accommodations. While all had their own unique qualities, the also were very comfortable and featured private baths (of varying sizes and configurations). Our only complaint was the air conditioning or lack thereof. The weather was a bit warm and air conditioning would have been nice, but the system was woefully inadequate. There also were no shutters on the windows, so leaving the windows open was not an option as the rooms faced other buildings and are very close due to the street designs in Venice. The breakfast at the All Angelo was magnificent and the perfect way to begin each day. The buffet featured eggs, bacon, meats, and a variety of pastries along with cereal and yogurt. Included in the room price, this was very enjoyable. The All Angelo’s central location mere feet from San Marco is an advantage as once get to the main attractions easily. When in Venice be prepared to walk, walk, and then walk some more...all worth every step!

Traveler's tip on nightlife

While a bit expensive, take the time to enjoy a cappuccino or cafe latte at one of the restaurants in the Piazza San Marco. Each has outdoor seating and features a 4- or 5-piece orchestra for you listening pleasure. Many simply stand and listen and the move to the next orchestra, but sitting and enjoying the evening is something one should not miss.

Nice View but extremely NOISY

We had a room w/a very nice view, facing a small canal; unfortunately there was a renovation going on at the next building & it starts every morning at 6:30am sharp! Lots of speed boats went by at night, even after midnight. NOISY NOISY NOISY! But both the room and the bathroom are big. Location is good, price is reasonable. Staff is helpful. If I can make sure there is no renovation going on, I will go back.

It depends on the room you get...

The first room they gave us was really small, and with really tiny showers (you can’t move!)We got lucky that the showers got clogged and the room flooded so they changed us to a much nicer room... a suite... right by the unloading area for the hotel. The room was big, the noise was unbearable, and the fumes from the boats so disgusting! Every morning from 7:00 am til 11:00 am was like that! I would not stay there again

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I would not go to Venice ever again! Just overpriced shopping, and restaurants with ugly food and prices! Biggest waste of money, the city is designed to rob turists (very few locals live there)For you to have an idea, a gondola ride cost 100 - 150 Euros (which is $150 to $225 USD) and it last for 45 minutes. Go somewhere else!

Great Hotel in Great Location

Loved the hotel and location. Easy to find and staff friendly and helpful. About 40-50 yards from St. Mark’s Square. Small but adequate buffet breakfast included in rate. Hotel also has private water taxi dock. Room 508 is a large room with nice view of small canal. Only complaint is bed was a bit too hard. Lots of old charm with large modern bathrooms. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Great location, friendly service

The location is the best, right by St. Mark’s Square. Great restaurant too. Don’t miss out on the bar in their sister hotel (Dona Palace) across the street, on the second floor, overlooking the canal. Their sister hotel also has a beautiful courtyard on the canal. The staff really tried hard to accomodate, extending the room service for us and setting everything up in the room when we were not there. It was a very happy night.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t miss out on the bar in their sister hotel (Dona Palace) across the street, on the second floor, overlooking the canal. Their sister hotel also has a beautiful courtyard on the canal. They will give you a coupon for 20% in the bar, and 15% off in the restaurant if you ask for it.

Nice hotel, good price

This was a nice hotel in Venice, very close to St. Mark’s Square. The room was spacious and clean. We even had a great view of a canal from our room. The free buffet breakfast was quite good as well -- much more food/selection than we expected.
